AMAZON: do you still loose commission if redirected to another country? (without using a WP-PlugIn) even if you're also an affiliate for that particular country?
Hi - yes.
The redirect from one region to another won't include your affiliate link (associates tag).
Each Amazon region is run as a separate entity so far as affiliates are concerned - so you need to be clever, in either using a plugin to localise your links, so that they are presented correctly to your visitor depending on their country/region - or you have to target specific people to a specific page which has links to local Amazon stores.
I use the latter method for promoting my friends book for example - we run FB ads targeting only USA users, and the ad takes them to a US landing page where the Amazon link goes to .com - and we target UK visitors separately to drive them to an identical page, but with a UK link to the Amazon .co.uk store.
All the best, Mark
Thanks Mark, exactly what I needed to know and even a bit more..! :)
I saw they changed a few things, so I was hoping this would have been one of those, so you would not need any work arounds.. :/
since you mention FB.. you know, even if not doing Ads, when posting, you can choose your audience that will be able to see that particular post i.e. countries ;)
Hi - yes, you can target specific countries - or even states within the US for example.
You can even target specific towns/cities - eg. I can target London only, within the UK - or UK wide.
It's pretty good at letting you really focus what you're looking for - from age groups, to which FB pages they follow, to if they are married etc etc.
Cheers, Mark
