Have fun when you blog!
BE SURE TO HAVE FUN CREATING POSTS
Today, I've been creating a very interesting blog post for one of my sites. I love to learn and to help folks and sometimes this can be very fun. This blog is one I created for my city, which is kinda like a resort place, actually a retirement type place. Bella Vista makes the list of top places to retire every year. and is know for offerring lots of outdoor activities - walking, hiking, cycling, fishing, boating, golfing, tennis and more.
Learning about Arkansas Venomous Snakes
Since Spring is here and the temperature is warming up a lot (some 80 degree days this past week), our local snakes are waking up and sightings are increasing. So I'm writing a post about the toxic snakes we have here, what they look like, how to avoid them, etc.
Its been fun researching for this post. I've learned here in Arkansas we have basically six poisionous snakes. The Copperhead, Cottonmouth, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Timber Rattlesnake, Western Pigmy Rattlesnake, Texas Coral Snake (and two harmless minics - the Scarlett Snake and a Milk Snake).
Finding free images of each of the venomous ones has been a challenge but I think I'm doing okay.
The above images is of a copperhead snake, sometimes called a "water moccasin". Scary huh? The yellow tail helps lure prey.
I'm adding the sound of a rattlesnake to the post too. Here it is if you are interested:
Anyway, I'm learning some interesting things which is kinda fun. I wish creating all my blogs were as interesting.
BTW I really don't like snakes at all.

Hi, great message. It should be fun creating positive posts to help people. If it is not maybe it is time to re-think our approach. I love creating posts by diving into places where I have done something in my past career (projects and project risk) and finding more up to date approaches or even just the light bulb going on.
I’m not a snake person either - good thing we don’t have snakes where I live.
I like learning things for my website too and try to add something ‘fun’ to add to my articles too whenever I can.
That water mocassion reminded me of growing up down in alabama that and the rattle snake were the 2 main ones.
Found them in all the creeks and rivers but they sure did help us learn to swim fast LOL LOL in the other direction 😀
I agree, you got to have fun and love writing and researching your posts.
Snakes don't bother me. I saved a few when I was younger. But I'm Louisiana now and can't just pick them up as I don't know the venomous ones here. Back home, venomous = rattle.
Btw, snakes are venomous not poisonous. Venomous is toxins delivered through a bite, puncture wounds, stings, etc. Poisonous is toxins you ingest (eat or drink), absorb through the skin, stuff like that.

Sorry, I couldn't help but correct that. It's the beta reader/editor in me. I'm very 'technical' about terminology. :)
I write blogs that are serious and at the end I lighten the load with a few, "Laughter is the best medicine," jokes.
By the way if you are into really dangerous snakes look up Australian snakes as they would make yours look like a chicken.
Out of the 10 with the most venom AU has 8 or 9 of the worst.
Tom.
I have to stop grabbing snakes by hand. I always have just reached out and snatched them, but one day I am going to get the wrong one if you know what I mean. Besides I am getting to old to chase down snakes, especially with a new knee going in a week from today.
Thanks Wayne
This is fun...I like how you have this included in your website.
I also like snakes, but it is good to know what one of the ones that will kill me looks like so I don't do anything stupid.
Cheers!
Nate

Shirley, it is great to learn that another Arky is in WA. I am in NLR/LR.
And the scariest sound you will ever hear is to be walking through the woods and hear sound of Rattlesnake rattles. BTDT.
Been here all my life and seen them all except the pygmy rattler and the coral. Being raised on a ranch outside of NLR we had a bayou and lowland on part of it, and I am very familiar with the water moccasin.
Then we also have the non-poisonous King Snake.
Hope you don't mind the photo of the moccasin.

Hey there, I live in Bella Vista in Northwest Arkansas in the Ozarks. My husband and moved here from near Pine Bluff in 2016 when he finally retired. We are loving this part of Arkansas. We are rural enough to not get too much traffic from Rogers and Bentonville, but close enough to lots of dining, shopping and major health facilities. Best wishes for your endeavors with WA. -Shirley
