Hi

Anyone updated to Wordpress 3.5 and are having problems with the widgets ??

I did this and now I cant edit the widgets area, drag or drop or get the widget menus to drop down. I've heard its a JavaScript issue so I looked on the JavaScript Console and it says this

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined
jquery-1.7.2.min.js:2
e.extend.each jquery-1.7.2.min.js:2
e.widget load-scripts.php:13
(anonymous function) load-scripts.php:18
(anonymous function)

I assume this is the problem but have absolutely no idea what to do with this info AAAHHHH!!!

Can someone please help as I know many of you use wordpress, Id be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Scottie

i updated mine to 3.6 and no problems.

Thanks eward Ill do that .

you are welcome

Lol will do :-) Cheers Mate have a good Xmas!!!!

Its the theme that's not up to date! Other themes work fine. The drop down boxes in the widget editor work now for some reason but cant drag a new one over to widget area .

Told you so. Go nag the developer. Oh, and don't early adopt again. Promise?! :P

Scottie, YOU know better than to be an early adopter. There are definitely some Javascript incompatibilities with Safari and Firefox browsers. It also always pays to check before updating that both your theme and all your plug-ins are compatible. I've seen quite a few examples of broken sites since 3.5. Firstly, check to see if there is a theme or framework update for your theme. If so, upgrade. I've also seen people having to downgrade their themes too! Secondly, turn all plug-ins off. If that fixes the issue you'll need to switch them on individually to see which one is causing the widget glitch. Rich.

Hi Rich

I know I should of checked!! Ooops lol. There are no plugins installed yet and Ive only just bought the theme, there are no updates. This has happened to all my locally hosted sites only so not a major problem just annoying !! What now lol ?

And thanks for replying btw.

This is on WAMP?! You broke WAMP?! :( Right, you probably need to check to see if there's an update for WAMP first.

Also, definitely eliminate the theme even if you've only just bought it. That doesn't mean it is up-to-date and compatible with 3.5. Switch your site briefly to Twenty-Eleven or one of the other bog standard WP themes just to check.

OK mate Ill give it a go .
