If it's Friday, it must be Red Shirt Friday!
Deb and I thank you all who support the Red Shirt Friday Tradition. The Tradition is not in support of or against any conflict around the world that our Troops happen to be involved in. If you remember the Vietnam Conflict days of the 60's and early 70's, then you still have a vivid memory of the treatment that returning men and women received. When we returned in September, 1970, we had to immediately get into civilian clothes and we were bused to the back terminal of San Fran Air Port. Protesters as usual. We survived. We remember. Many of us decided that this demeaning protests would never happen to our kids, IF!
Flash forward to the turn of the century. 911 happened. The short version is that two of our kids, a future daughter-in-lay and our oldest grand son, all eventually joined up to Serve in the Cause of Freedom. "What can I do?" became a call from many people around the world. In 2004 we began to hear about the protesters again and Deb and I made a decision that we would always be there at the airports when our kids returned home from deployments. We heard that some Vietnam Vets and a Veterans Group in Canada had started the Red Shirt Friday Tradition to support, honor and remembered those who served and the many who did not return.
Flash forward to 2111. Our world was turned up side down but we were encouraged to get a blog to to write about it all and show support to those who needed. Hence, the site that we just finished obtaining the domain name again, WhyRedShirtFridayDot, Tell ya later. Yes we just got the site back, long story, about a month ago and desperately looking for all the content and think we have and you should see it real soon.
Deb and I are very grateful to know and to learn with and from you great people at WA. We want to keep adding to this on Friday as we re-construct the Red Shirt Friday Site.Thank you all for indulging us and we are honored to be a part of something as Awesome and Important as WA!
Bless You All,
Sam and Deb

I did a double take when I read "Flash forward to 2111." That's what, 93 years from now? I'm thinking you probably meant 2018. Anyway, Thanks for your service way back when, and for your kid's service too.
Grant
Hey Grant, thanks Brother. Yep, my keyboard does that sometimes, lol. Should have been 2011.
Bless You

Hi Sam and Deb,
So happy you got your site back and can get your message out again. It will bring awareness to this issue and before long Fridays will be nothing but a sea of red shirts!
