The Learning Here Never Ends!
Hello Friends!
It's been awhile since I last posted anything but after watching the most recent class by Jay, "A World of Possibilities - Chat GPT at Work and Home", I felt an overwhelming need to share just how inspiring and motivational this was.
This is not my first Chat GPT class nor is it the first time I've heard about Chat GPT or AI. In fact, I used Chat GPT about a month ago to plan a spur-of-the-moment- road trip/vacation. My husband decided, at the eleventh hour, ( after stating repeatedly that we weren't going on vacation this year) that we would indeed, be taking a vacation. The eleventh hour meaning, we had less than 24 hours to plan and prepare for a 10 day trip. Chat GPT saved the day - all 10 of them!
Before singing the praises of AI, I will point out that I do realize I may be a little late to the Chat GPT/AI party. And, for the most part, I'm preaching to the choir. But for those of who have not yet watched the videos or are still undecided or unaware of the usefulness of this amazing technology, I'm sharing my recent experience and encourage you to at least give this technology a closer look.
The ConversationTo give a quick example, I started a blog post last week but haven't had time to finish it. Below is the "conversation" I had and how I used Chat GPT to help me finish my week old article:
Me: Hello. I started an blog article entitled, "National Sew A Jelly Roll Day' last week. National Sew A Jelly Roll Day was September 16, 2023. The day has come and gone. What is the best way to write such an article, on an event that happened in the past and still be relevant to readers today? My audience is people who do a lot of quilting and have many followers in Instagram and Facebook.
Chat GPT:
"Writing an article about "National Sew A Jelly Roll Day" that occurred on September 16, 2023, after the event has passed can still be engaging and relevant to your audience. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create an appealing post-event article:
- Recap the Event: Start your article by summarizing what National Sew A Jelly Roll Day is, including its purpose, significance, and any notable history related to it. Briefly mention how people celebrated it on September 16, 2023.
- Share Your Experience: If you participated in the event or know people who did, share your personal experience or anecdotes. Describe what you did, the projects you worked on, and the overall atmosphere of the day. Personal stories can make your article relatable and engaging.
- Highlight Social Media Posts: Since your audience is active on Instagram and Facebook, search for and showcase some of the best posts related to the event. Embed or link to posts, photos, or videos from participants, especially those with a significant following. This adds a visual and interactive element to your article.
- Discuss Trends and Challenges: Write about any trends or challenges that emerged during the event. Did people try new techniques, patterns, or materials? Were there any common issues or questions that arose? Offering insights into these aspects can be informative for your audience.
- Interview Influencers: If possible, interview popular quilting influencers who participated in the event. Ask them about their experiences, what they created, and any advice they have for your readers. This can add authority and credibility to your article.
- Provide Tips and Resources: Offer tips and resources for your readers who may want to sew with jelly rolls in the future. Share links to tutorials, patterns, and recommended supplies. Make your article a valuable resource for both beginners and experienced quilters.
- Inspire Creativity: Encourage your readers to keep the spirit of National Sew A Jelly Roll Day alive throughout the year. Suggest project ideas, challenges, or themes they can explore in their quilting endeavors. Inspire them to share their work on social media and connect with the quilting community.
- Showcase Finished Projects: If you or others have completed projects during the event, display high-quality images and describe the process. Share the stories behind these creations and any unique techniques used.
- Engage Your Audience: Encourage your readers to share their own National Sew A Jelly Roll Day experiences in the comments section. Create a sense of community by fostering discussion and interaction.
- Promote Future Events: Mention if there are any upcoming events related to quilting or National Sew A Jelly Roll Day in the coming year. This keeps your readers informed and engaged for future activities.
- Conclusion: Wrap up your article by summarizing the key takeaways, the fun had during the event, and the sense of community among quilters. Express your excitement for future events and your readers' continued participation.
By following these steps, you can create a post-event article that remains relevant and engaging for your quilting audience, even after National Sew A Jelly Roll Day has passed."
My first thought when I first read the response was, "Why didn't I think of that?" Sometimes, we make things more difficult than they should be. Depending upon how you phrase your question, Chat GPT sometimes has a way of making things so satisfyingly simple.
This was only the beginning of my conversation with Chat GPT on this topic.
As I asked more in-depth questions, I received more in-depth responses...something to keep in mind when using AI.
The information Chat GPT provided not only gave me a wonderful outline to work with for this current article, but the information embedded can also be used and expanded on to create a future blog post, or posts.
(BTW, for those of you not familiar, a Jelly Roll is a term used in quilting. It is 42 strips of fabric cut into strips that are 2 1/2" wide and rolled up, giving the appearance of jellyroll.)
The amazing tools we have access to at WA have given us a firm foundation on which to stand. And now, with the help of more advanced technology, (Chat GPT, Bing AI, etc). we have the tools to take flight and go anywhere our minds and our creativity lead us.
