Being stuck is just another lesson

About only a week away from my first month of WA membership, I realized that, though I've been learning a lot here (still have a lot to go), and though I've been communicating with other members quite a bit more than I'm used to, I still hadn't actually contributed much. This post is a good example, because it's the first one.

It's an interesting parallel to the fact that I haven't been posting content on my website for that duration, either. In case anyone wonders why (I wouldn't blame you if you didn't bother, it's pretty obvious in retrospect), I'd have to say it's a confidence issue.

It took me a while to figure that out, because for the past few weeks the biggest worry regarding delivering my content, as well as the reason behind the fact that I hadn't shared anything other than snippets of advice and comments with you guys, has been that I didn't feel as though what I had to share was good enough to be worth writing, worth sharing and worth being read by you.

Want to know what happened immediately after I figured that out?

*I bet you can guess fairly easily*

I immediately had to sit down and share this with you, because it hit me quite quickly and obviously that this is a confidence issue and not a creativity issue, it's not a block, it's not procrastination. And I know that a lot of you, especially the newer members just starting out, probably suffer from a lack of confidence as well.

Which would probably result in questioning yourself, feeling that you don't have enough good ideas to work on or that your content is lacking quality, or [insert every whiny excuse you've ever heard from anyone ever].

There was this really good diagram I regret I didn't save to share with you but while trying to look for it to reference it here, I found an even better link to share.

www.businessinsider.com/9-ridiculous-ideas-that-made-people-ridiculously-rich-2011-3#pet-rock-1

Now what would have happened if any one of those thought, in a lacking-confidence moment, "this is too stupid an idea to work, so I won't do it"?

So, if at any moment you're not delivering your idea because you don't think it's good enough, I suggest you sit down, get to it, and then better believe that it's more than good enough to be shared. Only after, should you tweak it, edit it, revise it, or whatever. But first: just do it.

I had a look at your websites before reading this blog and it surprised me!
Btw, are you from Australia?

There are a lot of people that can help you here at WA and they will give you advise on your doubts about your content or website style for your product.
Cheers Alexandra

Excellent blog Vlad! Thanks for sharing your feelings so honestly.
I think many of us are in the same boat confidence wise, especially when you are just starting this, having never had any interest in it in all the years leading up to this. You seriously wonder sometimes whether you can pull it off. I guess I still have some confidence issues myself, though most of my lack of website and blogs on here is due to family issues, the content is partially on there in draft, still need some more pics and organise affiliate links, but I am getting closer and closer everyday to getting my site up, and that really excites me, especially when I think of how I might be able to help people to change their mindset with it.
Keep plodding Vlad, and like AndyJ said, Hang in there :)
It's great to have you with us!
All the best,
Lynette

Thank you for the warmth and words Lynette. Don't forget that even if you have to tweak it, you still need to create content everyday. It's like the rule of compounding 1%, only more important.
I need to do the same myself, and I'll do today's content starting right now.

Kind of in a slump myself dude! Hang in there.

As Debbi said this is not an unfamiliar challenge to most of us! And yes the best way to develop the skill and gain the confidence is to just do it!
Kind of like letting go and walking! Before you know it you will be running! ;)

Everyone (or MOST I should say) have self confidence issues. However, the more you write, the better you get AND this is an awesome community. I'm glad you took this leap. Keep taking them. ~Debbi
