We've all heard "the money is in the list" but how to build a list is what is important.

First of all, why build a list? Simple! Once you have built a list of BUYERS not freebie collectors, you only need to send them a carefully constructed, not a sales pitch e-mail from your autoresponder, and hopefully some people will open and read it.
If say your list is 1000 and targeted to the niche in which you are recommending a product to them and written as someone who has tried it or knows others are raving about it, then a percentage might buy and you will make some money?
However, the best offers in the world won't earn you a cent if you don't have a responsive mailing list because your site doesn't get traffic or fails to convert enough visitors into subscribers. Why sell something to someone only once when getting them on your mailing list would allow further sales from them and more money in your pocket?
Buyers are the lifeblood of a growing income producing web-business so don't give them away to the affiliate product creator or vendor but add them to your own mailing list and filter buyers from freebie collectors to build super lists that eventually will make money on demand for you? Better still, create your own products or use PLR products to get subscribers, and always offer them true value and over-deliver thereby exceeding their expectations.
As for traffic, there are many ways, both paid for and free. While content may be king, money in the bank must therefore be the emperor. Getting lots of readers won't necessarily make you rich but having a highly responsive, targeted list of buyers certainly can.

Which type of traffic is best for you depends on many factors and my advice is to try two or three that do work, use them and success will follow once you have mastered using them. I like free traffic, but also have used Facebook and YouTube which have free and paid for traffic which anyone willing to start small, learn what works and scale up once results show a profit on investment or at the very least, break even.
