My first blog post about my new life!
Hi Everyone!
I've only been here for a couple of days, but already I'm meeting some fabulous people who have been so giving of their time and expertise.
Is anyone else feeling as overwhelmed, swamped yet so excited as I?? Let's talk about it! WA has been filling every corner of my waking and sleeping brain lately! It's like a drug. I keep trying to work out ways I can slip away and check in with everyone!
I want to talk about a couple of my thought processes, and see if anyone else feels the same way. Is that cool with you guys? Ok. Here we go....
- I'm keeping this secret. So for now, I'm not telling my husband about this, because I'm worried he'll burst my bubble by telling me it's a scam. I reckon I have a pretty good Bulls***ometer, and so far no alarms are going off. There was a certain Drop Shipping community I was on the fringes of recently, and my meter went off pretty loudly, so I quietly left. Am I right in believing everyone here is TRULY invested in helping others to achieve their online goals??? Because that's how I feel - if/when I manage to succeed in this, I want to be able to help other people succeed too. I'm not interested in being involved with throwing others under the proverbial bus, by building up their hopes, taking their money and disappearing. There's enough of that going on in the world, without adding to it!
- This isn't going to be "easy money". Basically, there's no such thing. But if we work really hard and help each other out, there should be plenty of room for all of us, right??? As we're learning, the online marketplace is HUGE and only growing. I do find myself wondering how on earth we'll all get noticed in a world filled with millions of websites, but I'm hoping the knowledge and wealth of experience found within WA will help us rise to the top of rankings - along with great content from us, of course!
- Deciding on a niche. How mindbending is THAT????!!!! Huh????!!! I saw Carol give some great advice the other day - find something you're passionate about, so you don't run out of things to talk about. The world is such a massive, multi-faceted place. No matter how odd, or unique you think your hobbies or interests are, I'm willing to bet there are at least a million other humans who share them! You like stuffing dead things? Great! You like dressing up as an animal and frolicking in the woods at night? Awesome!!!!! You enjoy finding ways to make kale more palatable? Go, you good thing!!!!!! Because, in the grand scheme of things, none of us are Robinson Crusoe. You're never alone.
- Honesty is the best policy. I dunno about you guys, but I intend to ask for as much feedback and advice as possible. Don't "come the raw prawn" as we say in Australia. If someone is asking for feedback, and you think they're site really sucks in ways you can helpfully and tactfully explain, PLEASE DO. Let's agree never to leave one of us floundering, when we can plainly see where they're going wrong. Be straight with me. Be straight with each other. We'll all learn quicker that way.
That's about it for now.....
So, back to work! I started building my first website last night, so I want to get back to adding content before my ideas dry up!
Feel free to bombard me with advice! Tell me what you think about... stuff. Talk to me about any misgivings you have - I probably have the same ones and we can't talk it out!
I do love a chat.......

Awwwww thanks!
Yes, she is!!! She's one of my Devon Rex cats. When I sign up for Premium (and I will be!!!!), one of my niches will be cat related. I do love my funny little baldy babies!!!!
My first site is a cat site. Supplements for cat behavior and health, all things we use for our cats that work really well. The supplements are made for dogs too. My husband and I grew up with dog teams so we know dogs but don't have any now.
We should work together on our cat sites!
OMIGOD! Yes!!!!!!
I just got finished doing my at-home jobs - cooking dinner for my human family and cleaning out my cats litter tray and getting them fed.... All the while I was thinking "hurry up!!!! I wanna get back on WA!!!!".
I'm already thinking about my next niche, which will definitely be high end luxury cat products.
I co-admin an Australian based Facebook group for Devon Rex owners and breeders and I'm one of only a tiny handful who have human babies. Most of our members are human childless and their Devons are their babies. They even call them their kids, which I understand completely. I'd love to run a site with really high quality cat only merchandise. Cat Mummies spend a fortune on their babies!!!!
So...... I'm thinking I might start this site within, like, 3 days....
I can run two sites, right???
I'm not Premium yet, but when my free access ticker runs down to the last day, I'll be joining up to Premium, make no mistake!!!!
I'm BIG on getting my money's worth.....
My ultimate goal is to have at least three sites. The first, Thrivingcat.com, already exists. That focuses on personally tested products (no random junk!) for behavior and health issues.
My original goal is a site for human health focusing on nutritional deficiencies and supplementation. This is a topic I have unfortunately had a ton of personal experience with! I am always trying to share what I have learned with family, friends and co-workers. I have a bunch of people taking B-12, magnesium etc now! There are a shocking number of common health issues that are due to nutritional deficiencies such as heart disease (largely due to magnesium deficiency and overuse of calcium without magnesium to match), depression, fatigue, hormonal issues, muscle pain and on and on that have easy solutions. A site to share this information has been my goal for several years. When I found WA, I thought, "This is how I can finally start my nutrition business!!!". As I started doing the lessons it occurred to me I could start with a topic a little less controversial (not challenging Western medicine) and do a site on the products that have helped us so much with our cats.
My third goal is a WA promotion site. I have heard from many people here that it is wise to focus on one site first and really get it up and running before starting a second. I am holding myself back from starting a second site since they (Kyle etc. say it is better to have one really good site then multiple mediocre sites). I have been woefully bad about posting enough on Thrivingcat.com. I got off to a great start but then just got busy with life and haven't kept up regularly. I can see where it is easy to get so excited at first and want to start all these sites but it is wise to make sure you really have it down to a science on the first site before taking on more!
You may have more energy or time than me and be able to handle multiple sites at the same time! You sound like it! I am sure eventually you will!
I love your site! It's beautifully laid out and easy to navigate. Your info is great and your links to your products are really organic! Nice one!!!!!
I know what you mean - I'm quite time poor throughout my life too. I have two (human) kids who keep me running and I worked full time AND I have a shift working husband. You're absolutely right. I need to focus on this first site and get it working well, before I start on another! It's hard to stay level headed with all this new info. I just keep seeing opportunities everywhere now!
Do you find yourself looking at everything as a possible niche now??? I do. I'm finding I'm watching people more closely now.
Yes, I have thought of a lot of things in terms of a "niche" now. I see some need for some product that would help people and think, "niche", I think of a product that I personally use and like very much and think, "niche"!
Then I shake my head and think, "How on earth will I have enough time to do all this?!"
I have personally connected with several people here in my short 4 months at WA who started out like a ball of fire. They were sooooooo excited and enthused. They were ready to take on the online world, make a great living, work round the clock and hardly get any sleep. Sadly, those people have burned out or had to leave as they suffered financial or life hardships. I was almost one of these! The key to all this is CONSISTANCY AND PATIENCE. It is easy to throw all your hopes and dreams and hours of the day into this and then get burned out after a few months. You need the mindset that this is the long game. This is a very long marathon not a sprint. However, from what I have seen, if you keep it up and have patience, it should really pay off in the end. I keep telling myself, no matter how frustrating it is now, it will feel soooo good to have a steady source of income in the future. It might make my dream of moving back out to the woods possible!
I am glad we connected here! Kitty power!
Thank you so much for the compliments too! I am so glad you like my site! There is SO much I still need to do. I have let it sit for a while now as I dealt with other stuff like my husband getting surgery and a broken down car!
Someone just told me it was difficult to find the Amazon links on my site and I really needed to build an Amazon store. It is nice to hear you liked the layout!
Hey, glad to hear you're on board and excited about WA. I was the same way when I first joined, and I have honestly learned so much from being here. I can tell you first off it's not a scam. All the information is better than any other info online you can find. However, you do have to be passionate about writing articles. Affiliate marketing is for people who do enjoy writing, which isn't me. I'm a musician and therefore need to concentrate on my own music, but this site has definitely given me the solid foundation and basics of what it takes to be successful. A solid website is a must.
With that being said, I have even made one commission from wealthy affiliate and not even having a website. Someone reached out to me on LinkedIn asking about it, I gave her good info, and she became a member, It was nice seeing that commission come into my PayPal account, and I didn't even do any work! That was just a lucky coincidence though. Imagine how many commissions I could get if I had built a website? Seeing as I need to focus on my music and my clients, I do not have the time. But I'm sure you see my point. Feel free to message me if you any questions.
