Is this Google Adsense? If so have they approved your site? I know they gave me a blank 1 to paste first till approved then when knew blank one pasted ok got my new html and replaced it where blank one was. Let me know if this is the case then I can check my page and tell you where I pasted/added mine :-) hope this helps x
Don't use the plugin. This is the easy way Adsense Without a Plugin Are you trying to get Adsense or verify your site with Webmaster Tools?
Was going to say the same thing as Stephen. For now don't worry about where the code goes.
Appearance > Widgets
Drage a new text Widget into the sidebar.
Open it
Paste the Adsense code
Done.

BUT . . . if the site address you gave is incorrect then all you can do is wait for Adsense to reject your application and then try again with the correct URL. You cant change it.
Or use a different Gmail account to apply again using the correct URL.
Or, sign into your Gmail, try this link: https://goo.gl/IR9K4W & see if it lets you add the correct site . Might work. ( I cant post the full Google.com link as it contains ? which WA doesn't allow. )
i tried this and it did not work for me... any other suggestions? my site is videogamesandconsolesltw.com
i just signed up for google adsense and they gave me a code so that they can verify my domain and i dont know where to put it
you don't need a plugin to place adsense ads... though there are several. You can put the code into a text widget on your page and the ads will run. Let me know if you need help.

i just signed up for google adsense and they gave me a code so that they can verify my domain and i dont know where to put it can anybody help me?
I dont recall having code needed to verify my site, do you mean to add the ads? Maybe you should use the adsense plug in.
Im trying to sign up for ebay publisher and they gave me a code so that they can verify my domain and i dont know where to put it can anybody help me?
Google does have site verification to make sure you are the owner of the site you apply to place ads on. There are usually several options for that process.
If you have the verification code option you can upload the code by FTP and then click the link for Google to check and see the code there on you site.
Anyway, this is a completely different code than ad code that other s are talking about. If you need help you can PM me with specifics.
