Day 4: Preparing For Content Creation

Another day where I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped. Had to deal with a couple of outside clients as well as adding a new client to the portfolio. Who knew I’d get a new client this close to Christmas. But a healthy client nonetheless as they are looking at installing a brand new home theatre.

I did manage to get preparations made for the onslaught of content. First, my favorite SEO plugin ‘Wordpress SEO by Yoast’ was enabled and configured with some basic settings for now. Integrated Google Webmaster Tools so that I could linkup my publisher status with Google+ as well as with YouTube.

I plan on creating a video tutorial outlining this basic setup in Wordpress SEO by Yoast. I know in the training modules here, they use All-In-One-SEO so I thought I would include Wordpress SEO as well in the training department.

Next, I activated the social networks Google+, Twitter & Facebook’s meta data to make use of Facebook Open Graph & Twitter card technology. This makes the social share posts look sweet on the users timeline when a blog post of mine is shared.

The last SEO configuration I made was to adjust some site wide meta robots settings as well as the homepage meta description and meta keywords. Yes, I know!! Google does not carry much weight on meta keywords anymore. But until they deprecate it from the HTML specification OR until such time that YouTube stops using meta keywords themselves, I will continue to use them if not to gain a little extra juice just to rank a little bit higher in Google. Can’t hurt anyway is my thinking!

Once Wordpress SEO was basically setup, I proceeded to create what I call the pillar pages. These are the pages that visitors will be able access with one click. I firmly believe that the menu system should allow for the fact that a visitor should NOT have to click more than 3 times to get to the information he or she came looking for. The pillar pages are the most important pages to me as they will be based on the most keyword searched term in Google. So those will be the pages that I want to visitors to hit first.

So now that the basic menu structure is setup, it is now time to create the content. And this is where the fun begins for me. It’s now time to release my marketing strategy to you that I will primarily be using to attract visitors. Drum roll please…..

Video Marketing

Yup, I will primarily be marketing my affiliate product(s) using videos all over the web. So you can expect that the next couple of days will be slow progress as I’ll be producing quite a few videos.

During my time away from WA learning the foundational insides and outs of internet marketing, I had learned that videos ranked faster AND higher in the search engine results pages (SERPs) than just plain text blogs. And who doesn't want to be ranked on the first page as fast as possible?!?!?!

In Day 5, I’ll outline the steps I follow when creating these videos and keep you abreast of my progress.
