Working From Home

There are many companies allowing employees, sometimes only occasionally, to work from home. Working from home does have a huge amount of convenience and a well-documented 13% productivity boost.

But it is not necessarily easy-breezy. If you have children and/or a husband/wife and possibly in-laws or parents on board, it could take some organizational wizardry! Nevertheless, working from home is one of the signs of our times.

Other than mainstream companies experimenting with this phenomenon, there is another brand of work-from-homers out there. Those who are affiliate marketers. I am one of those. Are you? Would you like to be?

Okay. That's the end of my salesmanship. But let's discuss the advantages (and maybe a few disadvantages) of this kind of work. In my research for this blog, I came across a woman who loved working from home because she didn't have to wear a bra...lol...

So the convenience is validated! Also it allows you to be more flexible for your life in general. Though there are some who report that focusing can be a problem, what with kids and family activities and when unexpected events take place.

I would very much appreciate if you would tell me what you love about WFH in the comments area down below. As for me, I love the ambiance and comfort my home office brings. It brings a very smooth emotional well-being to my mind. I believe my mind appreciates that!

As of this moment, my office is a coffee table and a comfortable chesterfield (couch) and a laptop. Upstairs, though, I do have an office area I have been building with a huge wrap-around desk with overhead cabinets. Two swivel chairs complete the ensemble. I am putting together my desktop computer and it is just not ready yet.

The job satisfaction is really high for me. I have savings in fuel and repairs for my car. I have accountability to no one but me. I have measurable increases in my health. I have built my own time structure that happily provides me with freedom I really never had before.

Heck, if I suffer from any type of overload, I just set everything down, go get on my bike, and ride for a couple miles! Or go out to my yards and do some gardening or mow the lawn. Or into the kitchen and cook something gourmet.

Yah...don't forget to eat...lol.

Weather is another thing working from home is overcoming. In so many different ways in so many different areas of the country. I live in Arizona. It can be 120 degrees while driving to work. That kind of weather can make people crazy!

I also wanted to address dads who are still raising small children. The way our working society seems to work (or not work), is that dads work so much that they are missing their childrens' childhood. Working from home definitely helps solve this! If this makes sense to you but you don't know how to change things, talk to me.

Okay...so paternity is super important!!

Be careful though, WFH'ers. Working from home can be lonely and isolating if you allow this. Get out and do stuff enough so that you feel whole and wholesome. Don't forget to do your workout or exercises or get started with it if you have not done so yet!

Nice article.

Thank you Red.

Great article. I sometimes work my career job from home. Productivity isn't an issue. It is with the family, grandchildren, and others. Make sure you have a quiet place for talking on the phone, concentration, etc.......

Thanks.

Thank you for the notice, K.
