The Affiliate Marketing Basics
The affiliate marketing basics:
The niche..
The concept is pretty simple. Find something you want to market. Mine is gourmet coffee. But yours could be anything. Something you have loved your whole life maybe. Something that would be fun to work with and do the research on and become an expert with. Something that would hold your interest and the interest of your shoppers.
We are going to call this your 'niche'. Okay, so, do you have a picture of your 'niche' in your mind? Good. Because you are going to be, eventually, the expert in your 'niche'. That is the concept we all start with.
A huge company...
Now, the easiest way to market products within your 'niche', is to use a huge company like, say, Amazon, for example. Why? Because they have millions of products of various types. So go and have a peek at amazon.com. Search them to see if they have products that you will need for your up-and-coming website.
If they do have what you want, also have a look at their affiliate/associate program. Because this will be the system you will use to put their products on your website for sale. If you join their affiliate program, they will give you two ID's. One will be for your own personal Amazon page for associates. You will use this page to find your new products and track your sales. The other is called your 'affiliate link'. Your affiliate link will be attached to every product you choose automatically.
Put products on your site...
You will earn a percentage of the sales price. Something pricey will yield more revenue. Yet you cannot choose a niche for the revenue. It does have to be genuine and original.
So let's say you now want to put a product you found with the search tool that's on your personal Amazon page, onto your existing website for sale. How do you do that? The item you found in your search will have a button next to it that takes you to a page with your product and its "code". The code is in a box down below the product picture. This tracking code is to be copied and pasted onto your website page while your page is in the 'edit mode' and in the 'text mode'. Do this, and you will have put an Amazon product on your web page for sale. Cool?
And that is the basic concept of affiliate marketing.
Content needed...
There are other things that lace into the concept as well. One of the most important of these is 'content'. You will need content for your shoppers to read and for you to build up your own expertise. You do not have to be a best-selling author or columnist. But you do need content to 'fill out' your website pages. Truth be told, your content is one of the main elements leading to success.
The percentages.
Okay. So now that you have a brief overview of affiliate marketing, where the income is 5-10-15-20% of sales, how would you like to be an affiliate where the income % can be 50% of sales? Alright! Now we're getting somewhere!
Wealthy Affiliate training and teaching is the best in the industry. When you come on board, you get two websites. My recommendation is to build the one site as laid out up above with a great product (your niche) and a huge company (like Amazon.) The second site, I recommend you market Wealthy Affiliate itself, where you can make 50% of a sale and that will be 'recurring', meaning every time that affiliate pays his bill to Wealthy Affiliate, you make money. If you come on board, I make 50% for recruiting you. If I have 8 of these a month @ a maximum of, let's say $175.00, that can be $1400.00 a month. Add this to your sales from your 'niche' site... Suffice it to say you now have a pretty good income!
