Why Two Or Three Are Better Than One! Efficiency Tip
I thought I would create a video about efficiency and making the most of everything. I'm currently spending a few weeks in Greece, so I'm using my laptop. Normally when I'm at home, which is in the UK, I have my home office which is set up with three large monitors, which are powered using a Dell Precision Workstation.
When I first came out to Greece and started using my laptop for work, I really noticed a huge difference in ease and productivity! I'm getting a bit more used to only having one monitor, but having extra monitors certainly makes life much easier and much more efficient. Hence, why I'm sharing this video.
Thank you for watching and I hope you will join in the conversation.

I have been considering adding a 2nd screen, but space is a bump in the road. I also enjoy using the multiscreen features on my desktop and laptop. However, as my vision is aging, not the rest of me, just my vision, I think that the size of the screen limits my versatility. I need larger screens.
I am sure I am not utilizing all the ways I could make the most of what I have.
Do you plan future posts on how to use multiple screens efficiently?
Thanks, Sami
Good morning Shelley,
I understand that space can be a problem for extra monitors, Shelley, maybe you could go for the portable option? There are also large and long screens that do the job of multiple monitors, maybe it's worth looking at something like that, possibly. It certainly sounds like a larger screen would be beneficial for you, I think it is for all of us, to be fair, whatever our age is!
I must admit, I hadn't thought of making more videos on using multiple screens efficiently, but maybe it's an idea and something that I could do.
Thank you for commenting and have a great Sunday.

Hey Roy,
I hope you're having a fantastic weekend so far!
Why on Earth would you want to use three monitors and your laptop monitor? That is a total of four screens, right? Haha, unless you're watching Netflix on the one screen and using the rest for work, maybe. I prefer having my laptop and at least one, or maybe two additional screens, if the laptop allows for two. I love that Asus portable dual screen thingymajig, I am definitely going to consider getting one of those. Hopefully, they are not very expensive.
Hello Hein,
My weekend is going very well, thank you, especially as I'm in Greece! I hope that you are doing well, Hein.
Do you know, I have three monitors with my desktop computer, but there have been times when I have felt that I need an extra screen! It may sound like overkill, but I'm someone who likes to make things easy. However, I haven't got the space for four monitors, so I can't see that happening!
I guess for the last five years, I have become so used to having three monitors, so when it comes to trying to do proper work with my laptop, it seemed quite difficult for the first few days! I am getting more used to it now.
For most people, who are working from home, standard monitors are absolutely fine. But for anyone who is a digital nomad or travelling regularly, something like the Asus dual screen would be brilliant. Especially as it folds up like a laptop! It would almost be like carrying two laptops, but actually giving you three screens in total.
The laptop I'm using at the moment is a Dell latitude 15-inch screen, unfortunately I can't update this computer to Windows 11. It's actually 10 years old, but works absolutely fine. I'm looking to upgrade to potentially a Dell workstation laptop, which could handle extra screens with a docking station. I would go for the 17-inch screen, just to give a bit more space.
Enjoy your weekend and thank you for commenting.
Roy
That sounds like a great plan. I will surely consider getting a portable single-screen or dual-screen one. The single portable screens are much cheaper than the one you mentioned, and you could potentially buy two single screens for less than half the price of a dual.
They seem to be making monitors in all shapes and sizes now. I'm guessing that I could probably purchase one long screen if I wanted to, although I have two monitors at each end, set at a slight angle, so don't know how effective one long monitor would be.
I agree with you, the single screens are much cheaper, but maybe these portable monitors will come down in price. Do you remember when flat screens first came out, Hein? There were serious amounts of money at the time, but they quickly came down in price. Maybe this will happen with the foldaway screens, I wouldn't be surprised!
The fact is if someone is travelling, these foldaway screens that fold up like a laptop are brilliant, so easy to pack up!
Have a great weekend.
Roy
Hey Roy,
Yes, all new technologies start out helluva expensive. Do you think I would be able to get a docking station that can accommodate two of these single screens connecting to my laptop?
Good morning Hein,
Yes, that's so true, in general, it appears that new technology normally comes down in price. I'm guessing that you could probably get a docking station, Hein, there is so much available now. I have never actually used a docking station, but I know my old Dell latitude can take one. I don't know if they all directly attach to the underneath of the laptop, or maybe you can get plug-in docking stations.
All I know is that it would be far easier just to connect one lead or to one docking station rather than plugging in multiple leads, etc, which would become a bit tedious over time.
Have a great week.
Roy
Good mid-morning, Roy,
I believe some of them connect via USB and also via HDMI ports. We urgently need to upgrade our computers before October, when there will be no more free updates to Windows 10. It will be quite pricey to buy the updates in bundles per year, and next year the price goes up by double, roughly.
After the upgrades, we will look into docking stations and extra portable screens.
Good morning Hein,
Yes, that would be my guess, or certainly with the HDMI ports. I have the same problem with this laptop, it works perfectly, even though it's 10+ years old, it can't take Windows 11.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the updates in bundles, Hein. For example, my desktop computer, which is five years old, can be upgraded to Windows 11. However, my Dell latitude cannot be used with Windows 11. Are you saying there's a way around this issue?
Enjoy your day.
Roy
Hey Roy,
Windows 10 updates will stop in October, and you will have to purchase update bundles from Microsoft from then. The price will go up next year, and it is quite steep.
I don't know why this new nonsense idea is emerging. We always used to get updates for many years for free.
Good morning Hein,
I'm guessing that it's probably not really worth purchasing the bundles, as it will be too expensive? I must admit, I didn't know there was that workaround.
When I brought my desktop computer which has Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft said that that would be the last operating system and we would just receive updates! However, Uncle Bill Gates decided it that he needed more money, despite making money from the vaccinations!! It's the same old story, money!
Incidentally, I have just arrived back in the UK, it's wonderful to have access to my three monitors, they feel massive after using the laptop!
Have a great day.
Roy
Hey Roy,
I doubt that they will stop creating new versions of Windows, as computers continue to evolve and they need to keep up with the competition. Besides, as Mac and Unix introduce new features, they will have to keep up, or Windows may become obsolete.
Good morning Hein,
I know where you're coming from, as, although I was a late user with computer technology (2001), I have seen quite a few different versions over that 24-year period. I have never used a Mac computer, but I think they just do regular updates, rather than complete new systems?
I also believe that people with Mac computers and iPhones get rather tied in with everything, so both operating systems have plus and minus points, I guess.
I hope you're doing well and thank you for the comment.
Roy
Hey Roy,
You're right, maybe they will stop making new versions of Windows and only do updates and add features through the updates. It makes sense.
Have a great week further.
All I have is my MAC laptop and my android but I do use them both at the same time whenever I am working on my website. MAC
I must admit the phone can be useful as an extra screen, especially if you're creating videos and need bullet points, etc. I don't particularly like using bits of paper, I much prefer to have information on a screen. Different things work for different people.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, Michael.
Have a great day.
Roy
Hi, Roy.
I use a Lenovo laptop, but instead of using its screen, I use a 27" Monitor. I have used the laptop's screen when I had one thing running on it and another on the desktop I had. But that desktop died. So now all I have is the laptop and the 27" screen.
Thanks for sharing. Gives me something to think about.
JD
Good morning JD,
Can you not use both screens, JD, so in other words your laptop and your 27-inch monitor? You could get a separate keyboard and have the two screen side-by-side, just a thought. It sounds like the system you have worked though, which is good.
Thank you for commenting.
Have a great day.
Roy
Good morning, Roy.
If I understand what you are asking, I think I can. I have just not looked into it, and I really like the 27" screen. ;)
You are welcome
JD
Hello JD,
I also understand where you're coming from. I do like these large computer screens, they are so much better than the original screens that we started out with 20+ years ago!
Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Roy, my husband swears by using more than one monitor. Although I have used two monitors before, I mostly just use my laptop. If I had more room on my workspace, I definitely would be using multiple monitors. It truly is much more efficient.
Hopefully, I create some space soon.
Great reminder and a great tip.
Good morning JarieLyn,
I really do find it so much easier with multiple monitors. However, after a few days of using my laptop, I did kind of get used to not having multiple screens. When I arrived back home and turned on my PC, it did feel like a luxury to have the larger monitors and the three screens. I do feel that it definitely brings efficiency, so I do very much agree with your husband!
I do appreciate that space can be an issue.
A very happy Sunday to you.
Roy
Happy Sunday to you, Cheers!
