To Be An Ambassador Or Not To Be?
The other day I received an email from Kyle to congratulate me on being an Ambassador, which slightly surprised me. I haven't been particularly active on Wealthy Affiliate, however, through writing one blog post, it's amazing how quickly our ranking can jump up higher! Especially when we have been here a few years!
I hadn't actually written a blog post on Wealthy Affiliate for six months, not because I didn't want to. More to the point that I like to try and reply to every comment, which takes time. I believe that if someone is taking the time to comment on my blog post, then I need to take time to respond in the correct way.
I felt compelled to write this post after reading Mel's post, which you can see below, entitled, "It's Easy To Become A WA Ambassador".

Mel makes some very interesting thoughts on Ambassadorship at Wealthy Affiliate.
First of all, it really is great fun and interesting reading, answering questions and hearing other members success stories and challenges. In fact, it's very addictive and very easy to become carried away and actually spend too much time on this fantastic platform rather than working on our actual business! However, there is a balance and I appreciate different methods work for different people!
I don't expect to be an Ambassador for very long at Wealthy Affiliate as in my experience it probably takes about two hours per day to stay at Ambassadorship level. Which equals around 14 hours a week. I have been at Ambassador five or six times before so I have a good idea how much time it takes to stay at that level.
A Few Thoughts And Questions
I know there are quite a few people who are leveraging their Ambassadorship to grow their brand and business, which is fantastic. I think this is a great idea if you can leverage Wealthy Affiliate in this way.
It takes me around an hour on average to write a thousand-word blog post and then you have the formatting and everything else that goes with it. So at this rate, I could spend this time populating my websites with seven extra blog posts per week.
My time is fairly limited as I have an off-line business which keeps me very busy. Time is very precious, so, I really like to make the most of every hour. If I was working full-time online, I would seriously think about spending time on my Ambassadorship and using it to grow my brand.
One of the great things about Wealthy Affiliate blog posts is the fact that we can send people to our posts directly from our website! We don't even need an affiliate link as anyone who lands directly on our own Wealthy Affiliate blog post is potentially signed up under our name or affiliate link. This is very beneficial from the point of view that we don't have to add affiliate links to our blog posts, which is great from Google's point of view!
At the same time, it's good to think about other people, so by being active on Wealthy Affiliate we can help others grow their online business. Especially beginners who may find the whole process quite daunting and almost impossible. I very much believe in tithing and giving time to other people, it's not all about us!

I have not been as active on Wealthy Affiliate since I joined in 2016 but now find it better than Social Media. I've just started my blog writing journey and am aiming to make 50 posts by Christmas this year - as you said, Roybretton! While I'm envious of your fast-ranking success story and quickly join the ranks, we can hopefully work together soon as ambassadors. Thanks for highlighting Mel's post mentioning Ambassadorship at Wealthy Affiliate sounds really interesting; presumably, he knows the ropes. It'll be a double whammy if our blogs help others grow their online business while simultaneously growing ours with increased traffic!

I think if you're going to network with different people it's great to network with like-minded people. Although Wealthy Affiliate is not actually social media, it's great that we can share ideas, thoughts, struggles and questions et cetera and help each other.
Regarding the fast ranking, I do find it amazing how quickly you can rise up the ranks I just being active. Incidentally, I have not set out to rank high it's literally through participating and being reasonably active.
There are some successful members here that have to do very little. Due to their success, members naturally read the posts which then adds to multiple likes! To me, we don't need to strive to gain ranking we just need to be active on this platform and the ranking will naturally come.
Mel's post was a great post that inspired me to write my post. I find it absolutely amazing what we can learn from each other.

Being an ambassador is a wonderful feeling, especially when you are helping other new members and are satisfied and happy. Plus, I noticed adding visitors to my website.
I dreamed of being here and experiencing it already for 147 days or 4 months while balancing it with my website. At the moment, I feel like giving more time to my site and do more things there and improve as my site needs a little bit of focus.
I believe your business is getting well and not much to manage now, so ambassadorship and/ or ranking are helping your business. For me, better for you to stay as an ambassador to add to the quality and stability of your business.
So whatever decision you take, I want to congratulate you, Roy!

I hear you regarding helping people, sometimes it's easy to look at how much time we are spending doing something. However, if we are genuinely helping others in then it has to be a good thing! It's great that you're adding visitors to your website. I wonder if they are curiosity visitors are actually people who are genuinely interested?!
Well done for making your dream come true, it's amazing what hard work and do! However, I do know that we do have to prioritise our website and writing content.
If I was working full-time online I would certainly think about trying to leverage Wealthy Affiliate to expand my online business. However, having an off-line business keeps me busy, it's important to prioritise.

Hi Roy, I have been ambassador, but lost it due to inactivity. I think it would be nice if you can maintain that title. You can write short blog posts so you may have the time to keep on being an ambassador. By the way congratulations and continued success. I have a health website and I promote natural products.

I understand where you're coming from Michael, you have to be continually active to stay at Ambassador level. Having said that, there have been times when I have been quite inactive due to the pressure of work with my offline business. I do find it amazing how quickly you can rise to the top again, almost with one blog post!
I noticed that quite a few members write short blog posts, however, it's still time-consuming to reply to the comments. If I had the time to stay as an ambassador I would like to see what the long term effects would be on my business.

Hi Roy, doing OK thank you. You are absolutely right you have to constantly remain active by writing blogs and answering questions if you plan on remaining an ambassador. Yes, this can be quite time-consuming. I still keep searching for that balance and I only work part-time due to a back injury. My site is doing well, I do feel it serves a purpose as far as helping people. I hope you can find that balance and remain an ambassador.

I agree that it is work and time-consuming. Even though it's great to reach that ambassadorship spot, it requires quite a bit of sacrifice to stay on top of it. My thank you's to those of you who take that spot, as you help many of us.

Undoubtedly the ranking system is a hugely clever trick WA uses to utilise its members, who pay to provide support to other members, rather than WA actually training support staff and paying them a proper wage. The way this is done is with the member rating system and the promise of becomming an “Ambassador” if you rise to the top of the ranks.
