Here is my first vlog, entitled, "Why I recommend Wealthy Affiliate"! Now this is really kind of a test post to try out the new vlogging platform, let's see what happens!

The video may be more suitable for people who are just starting out, as it briefly explains my journey and how I started out the hard way. If you're looking for a bit of encouragement, hopefully this video will help and encourage you to move forward.

Incidentally, I do have two arms, but I use a background remover in Camtasia, which seems to want to make my arms disappear every now and then!

Thank you for watching and leave any comments below.

Congrats on your first vlog in WA! You seem comfortable making videos.

For me, much harder to do it because English is a second language for me, so I am uncomfortable with it. I am sure I can, it was not easy for me to talk in English, but now I can. Video creation will just take longer for me. πŸ™‚

Thanks for reminder not to rush, take our time, and don't give up!

Good morning Linda,

Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch my videos, it's appreciated.

I do appreciate it makes a difference if your first language is not English, Linda! Out of interest, what is your first language, please? Maybe it's something that you can look to do in the future, as most things get easier and if your English is improving, maybe it's time to start. You can always practice making videos, without uploading them.

Incidentally, I'm learning Greek, so I do appreciate how difficult it is to learn a language. Everything takes time.

Wishing you all the best and a great Sunday.

Roy

1

Thanks! My first language is not a big language; it is Latvian.

Nice that you are learning a new language. For me, learning new languages wasn't easy, never was. Struggled with English at the start, but now I can talk with people using that language. πŸ™‚

2

Good morning Linda,

My guess is that your language may use the Russian alphabet, but I'm not sure.

I agree with you that learning languages isn't easy, especially if the alphabet is different. I think it's something that we just have to keep practising. I'm actually in Greece at the moment, and I believe being around Greeks probably helps to make it easier.

I do have a Greek teacher, who is excellent, we carry out the lessons online, which seems to work well. For the last six weeks, I have also been using Duolingo, which definitely seems to be happening. But I do think it's important to have a good human teacher as well.

It's great that you are now able to talk to people in English, keep up the great work, Linda. As an Englishman, we are so fortunate that English is spoken all over the world, it certainly makes life easier!

I hope you have really great day.

Roy

No, it is not the Russian alphabet, it is Latin or something. My language has nothing to do with the Russian one. It is a Baltic language, in that regard similar to Lithuanian.

Being around people whose language learning can be helpful. We have too many Russians, but on purpose, I don't want to know that language. πŸ™‚ A lot of history involved and a lot of pain, and for that reason, I don't want anything to do with it.

Yes, my best friend was Australian, and he complimented me on my English (still not sure it was true what he said). For sure, easier if your language is popular. However, I see it as an advantage that I know a language whose roots are one of the deepest (related to Sanskrit to some extent). I am proud of it. πŸ™‚

Have a great day, Roy! Thanks!

Linda

Hello Linda,

Thank you for your reply, it's appreciated.

That was a wild guess that I got wrong!

I think being around people who are speaking a language, certainly helps. Well done for learning English, it's so useful to know the English language.

It's very interesting how languages are put together, although, I don't find Greek easy, it's interesting how deep the words are and how they come together.

All the best to you.

Roy

2

All fine, you did not know. Many people assume similar because we are close to that country.

I know, still have things to learn for sure. Just have bit more confidence than I had when I was younger.

They have a lot of history. Why did you choose to learn Greek? Not easy, I guess, but at least have similarities to other languages. I would be more scared to learn Estonian πŸ˜€Completely different language tree and all that.

2

I almost looked up online to see what language you spoke, Linda, but then I thought I would ask you the question. Yes, I guess because of the area, it's not a part of the world that I know. I have had some dealings with a company in Estonia, there are certainly some interesting places in the world.

My ex-wife comes from Greece, originally, we were going to go to live in Greece full-time, although my wife likes the UK a lot. However, I really like the Greek culture and the climate, so I'm thinking of living there. It's interesting how the Greek language is made up, but it's not easy, I try and do something every day, as in learning Greek.

Have a great day.

Roy

I speak only 2 (Latvian and English). My mom same like older generations, speaks Russian because it was forced in Soviet Union times.
It could be easier for me to learn Lithuanian, but they have different emphasis (not sure how to explain)

For example, the Lithuanian word "pienas" (piens in Latvian, milk in English). Latvians would say pienas, Lithuanians say pie-nas (emphasis on second part of the word)

Estonian is not related to Latvian (Finno-Ugric group; Latvian is in the Baltic language group, the same as Lithuanian).

I have learned a bit of German and Chinese πŸ™‚

Your wife coming from Greece, explains why you want to learn that language. They have a rich history, too, I liked to learn about Ancient Greece in the past.

2

Thank you for your reply, Linda, it's an interesting conversation.

I find it incredible how languages are made up, I find it even more incredible when people can speak six languages! It's amazing what the human brain can achieve.

Now Chinese is something that I really wouldn't attempt to learn, I just don't understand it at all. Well done to you for attempting such a task!

Greece has a huge history, it's all very fascinating and interesting. I really like the Greek people, and of course the climate is considerably better than the UK. Although they have a winter in Greece, I think it would feel incredibly short compared to a UK winter.

I hope your day is going well.

Roy

Love it Roy! That was a fantastic first Vlog in my opinion and it's always interesting to hear a voice for someone I have interacted with over the years!!

'How to make a million in 30 days' would have definitely caught my attention back then!!

Great start buddy, enjoy what is left of your Sunday and of course your upcoming trip to Greece! :-)

Thank you, Nick, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I wanted to try out the video blogging, so I thought I may as well start with something genuine and positive, not I want to be negative! Yes, I hear you, sometimes when we meet someone in real life or see them on video, it's a bit different to what we expect! I hope you were too shocked and were sitting down when you watched the video, we don't want any broken bones!!πŸ˜‚

It's funny, I could really see the power of the Internet, but I just didn't know what to do and where to start! So, I purchased lots of products that promise the earth, but produced nothing or almost nothing. I remember those great headlines, "Turnkey system" and "Money Machine"!!!

Thank you for the good wishes, it's appreciated.

I hope you have a good week and I hope the weather doesn't get too hot. It actually looks like in a couple of days, it's going to be quite warm again in the UK, but time will tell, the weather changes quickly here!

All the best.

Roy

Most welcome as always Roy! And I will say again that this was a fantastic little video....

Certainly better than other members here who seem to do as many as they can a day (is there a limit, I have no idea) , just to get more spamming points and cash at the end of the month... no names of course!!!

I actually wasn't shocked at all by your voice and no more broken bones as of yet!!!

I guess it's what we all believe to be reputable at each given time...

But...Wealthy Affiliate is certainly the best of the platforms I have researched over the few years I have been doing this!!

Take care my friend! :-)

4

Thank you, Nick, I appreciate your kind words and feedback!

We have a great platform here and it is rather a shame when people try and take advantage of the system, just for the sake of getting points or ranked, etc. I always like to try and keep on points on the platform, as some blog posts are more suitable for platforms like Facebook. But it's good to remember that it's an Internet marketing training platform!

I'm glad you were shocked at my voice, Nick, and at least there are no broken bones!!

That's true, it's good to post genuine things from a real experience on the platform.

As I mentioned in my video, when I first started out, I was purchasing all the wrong type of things; what a difference when you find the right platform like Wealthy Affiliate!

Have a great week and thank you for commenting.

Roy

3

Haha! I wasn't actually shocked by your voice Roy!!

I have just been informed that visitors are coming here on Thursday... honestly... I don't like many visitors I don't know, but... the wife invites any and everyone connected to the Church without a moments talk with me!!

Wish me luck my friend! :-)

4

That's good to hear, Nick, I didn't want to give you any shocks!😁

It's a funny old world, Nick, I'm afraid! I must admit I like people, but I also like peace and quiet! I used to have lots of people come around here for dinner, but don't have so many now.

Is it possible for you to hide up somewhere or to get out the way, or do you have to be there, Nick. As a Christian man and speaking biblically, most women won't agree with this, but the husband is actually the most important man of the house! He should come before the children, I'm not saying you abandon children, but my point is that the husband should be the priority!

Sadly, in this day and age, it seems that too many people want to take over, rather than playing their correct role in the house. I do hope that everything goes okay, Nick. Do you get on with the people, maybe you can join in a bit more, possibly? But I know where you're coming from, it's good to be with people who are on the same wavelength.

I do hope it goes well, Nick and much better than you could imagine.

Take care and be happy.

Roy

PS: I have often wondered what it was like to live in a world when men were men and women were grateful!! 😲

1

Welcome to vlogs Roy, it is great to see you on video and you in real person! :)

2

Thank you, Kyle, I believe that this video blogging feature is a great asset to the platform. It will be interesting to see what is more effective, as in traditional blogging or creating a video. I like both, but I'm also someone who reads. If someone sees a video that's perhaps five minutes long, maybe they will give it a miss. Just thought.

Incidentally, is there a limit on how long a video can be on the Wealthy Affiliate platform? I'm not planning to upload long videos, as I don't think it is appropriate, but just curiosity question.

Enjoy the rest of your day or vocation.

Roy

1

Welcome to the vlog world! More posts, more engagement.

John

2

Thank you for taking the time to comment, John, it's appreciated.

It will be interesting to see what gets looked at more, traditional blogs or videos. Although, I like watching videos, I also quite the reader, so time will tell.

All the best.

Roy

2

Good job on your first Vlog on WA!

3

Thank you, Michael, I appreciate you taking the time to comment and to have a look at the video.

I'm not sure what will work better on Wealthy Affiliate, video blogs or traditional written blogs. Time will tell, I guess!

All the best.

Roy
