I am actually writing my first official blog post! (Facebook is not Blogging)
You might think that is a strange statement to make in this day and age.
Since I grew up in the 1960's and graduating college in 1972, social networking has a different meaning. When we networked, it was at school dances and we actually touched the other partner and really talked to each other face to face, not in a 'book' as you young people do now. But we also did what young adults do now, if you get my drift. 'Drift' has a different meaning now also, back then it meant, "doing other then what you were saying you were doing", not going around corners, on purpose, burning up your tires!
Over the last 45 years I have held major jobs involved in electronic and computer technologies at all levels, but I am not an expert in any one thing, I am a 'Jack of all trades, Master of none' kind of guy.
So why am I not more adapt at 'blogging' you ask?
I have watched these technologies evolve and I do own a smart phone. I have designed my own websites, started one in the early 2000's time frame, even made a little money selling dial-up services when it was all the rage. Life happens and technology marches on and I did not pursue it any farther, but I still have the domain name, but that is another story. So I know a lot, but not all, about the workings of the internet, websites, SEO, and how Google is trying to bring control to it all. But knowing and applying that knowledge are two separate paths within me. I needed to focus on a path of learning and practice methods that will lead me to do all that is necessary to succeed.
This is a major progress point in itself.
So here I am taking these courses here at WA and Blogging because it is now time for me to begin the steps toward success. Since I am neither a writer or a typist, for me, this is some what intimidating to be progressing through the Certification course and reaching a point where I have to get better at both.
So what niche should I be working within.
Oh, that is a hard one to answer, having lived as long as I have and still married to the same girl for forty years, helped raise 4 sons, watched them grow up to be adults with their own kids. Had a 20 year career in health care industry (computers), owned my my own home for 30 years and lost it in the 2007 housing crash. Growing old, health problems, nothing major but could have been, (no not cancer of any kind), and now here I am trying the to wrap my head around Wealthy Affiliate and make it work towards a career I have been looking for all these years.
I like offering my knowledge, to others in find solutions to their issues, be it health, home, personal fitness or overall wellness. Care for older adults, Social Security, wills, death and taxes. I have experienced all of these, well not death personally, duh, close extend family members. In all this, I learned life lessons and made mistakes, found out I am not an expert in any of these areas, but I do know how to find the best sources for the expertise you or I may need in those areas.
Got to narrow the choices down, Kyle, keeps telling me, find your unique niche, he says.
Got to start somewhere, so I decided to start with my personal experience, Low stomach acid or hypochlorhydria. If you have had heartburn and the purple pill or TUMs relieves it, then you don't have hypochlorhydria. If NOT, then you need to read the article I wrote about the two kinds of heartburn and how and why to test for and how important it is to find out which one you have, trust me it is important information to know, not just for yourself but any friends you know who suffer these symptoms.

Now that I have narrowed down to a niche and a built website, Now what.
My plans as they are now and as I write this 'Blog', are to add to the content of my website and aggressively promote through whatever means that is allowed, and that lesson here teach, MY website. Then during the next 3 months, I will measure my progress and reevaluate but NOT stop, as I have done in the past, because forward is the only way to go.
Measuring Success (it is not just financial, but things I can be proud of.)
In our hectic search for happiness or wellness, (look up the definition of both please) in life, we seem to come to measure it by the amount of money we make or have. Now I agree money is important just to exist, but it is not the 'be all end all' measure of happiness and wellness. I know some very wealth people that are not happy or in a state of wellness and I know some not so wealthy, that are very content in their state of wellness. Life has its balance.
I have come to the conclusion (and the writing of this 'Blog')
As to how am 'I' going to measure my success or 'Fail...' (stop, throw that word out of your thoughts NOW..)
If I help find solutions for my web viewers 'problems' or direct them to sources that will get them the solution and I gain a little monetary benefit, then that is my 'Measure of Success'. But my focus is going to be helping others avoid the mistakes and advance that good in what I have learned in the lessons of life that I have lived, so far that is, since life is one big learning experience, I want to live a long life.

Nice blog! I am so in awe of the amount of support here on WA and all I keep telling myself is that if I take the time, study the lessons and ask questions, I will succeed! My 18 year old son just graduated from Marine Boot camp on November 22nd and I wrote him almost every day of those long 3 months and I kept telling him one thing more than anything else and that was "You can and will do this and failure is NOT an option!" Now I need to practice what I preach! Blogging is the idea that actually started all this for me and I really want to start a blog on my other passion of helping veterans and our military, but I was told to start out with building a site on one of my other niches like my cross stitching and once I have a little more experience, then go for my helping veterans site. I am determined that will be soon! I start my college classes back up on January 22nd and I am going to try to devote as much time as I can before then to learning how to build these websites and hopefully I can have them set up enough that it will be minimal time to keep them going in between my work, my studies and my personal life! I did send you a private message earlier today! :)
Thank you for commenting on my 'Blog', and remember, everything you did for your son and more will come through to the viewers of your soon to be website and blog. You just need to tell Google you exist and you will learn how in the coming lessons. Traffic is the key, with high traffic viewers will stop and read and some will buy what you are offering (does not need to be hardware) there is software, eBooks, subscriptions to your newsletters so forth..
I left a PM answer for your PM, some how that doesn't sound right.

Ross, love this blog! I was a teen in the 60s and trying to get started on my 60's website here in WA. I was a premium member but had to cancel because of financial reasons. I plan to get back there real soon. In the meantime, I'm trying to see what I can get done on the free end. Best of luck with WA. You have been a big help to me already.
I can also give you pointers on what to do and how to do the FREE side it can work also..
