Social Media GDPR Compliance

Further to my previous blog post on whether or not to add social media compliance to our privacy pages, I have been trying to work out what to do and every one has different advice. The social media platforms themselves, have had compliance issues so if they don't know what to do with all their legal advice, I don't know how to rest of us are supposed to know. Of course, being small fry we are less likely to be targeted UNLESS someone makes a complaint and I don't believe that this is a risk I want to take.

I use Ultimate Social Media Plugin and they say that they only collect cookies, but to play safe I have included their compliance page saying this and the social media details.

I aim to show that I have made every effort possible to ensure that I have researched to ensure that I don't inadvertently breach any of the regulations.

I have decided to add the social media information to my privacy policy and have added the platforms' privacy policy and where I have found it, their GDPR compliance page, which also usually has the latest update to their privacy policy.

You are welcome to copy and paste this for information onto your own website and if you check the links, you will see what I have linked to.

Hi Rose Ann, thank you for the share

Thank you for sharing

Hi Roseann,
Thanks for the info. :)
Donna

Thank you for sharing, Kerry! I believe you are referring to UK?

This regulation applies to European rules, but if anyone goes to your website from there it suddenly it applies to you. Put GDPR in the search bar and you will see training my Marion Black and Loes on how to make sure your website complies.

If you do a google search, you will see that there are implications world wide.

Thank you, Kerry! :o)

Thank you, RoseAnn:)

Thanks Kerri Ann
Is this for the US or UK?

Hello Deborah,

The GDPR is a European law, but Internet is worldwide, so everyone has to comply with. Either you block your visitors from Europe or you comply with the GDPR.
There is no way out.

thanks for answering for me. Have been off doing todays blog post and earning comment credits.

Just a very small way to repay you.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.
