First Snow Last Night in Southern New Mexico (with Pictures)

We don't usually get snow in October, here in the mountains of southern New Mexico. To place our location, we are about an hour and a half drive to the border with Mexico, and at about six thuosand feet in elevation.

I was pleased when snow was forecast, and even more pleased when we had a good rain for about an hour in the late evening. It's been a drought here.

Then not long after midnight we got... SNOW! Wonderful! This morning I went out early and took some pictures. This fence is one we use as a trellis in our garden, for beans, tomatoes, and trailing plants. Nothing on it now.

And here is one a bit closer to the bushes. Okay it isn't the quantity of snow that people further north got, but it was sure enough to thrill me.

Our greenhouse didn't get any snow inside it. Here, tomatoes, hot peppers, and cucumbers are still alive, along with a few other things.

So here comes a new season! A very good time to hunker down and work work work on our WA projects.

We will walk in velvet shoes...one of my favorite Robert Frost poems. And a winter greenhouse, where there's always a feeling of joy and welcome...that "ahhh...." feeling when you walk in from the cold to the warmth and aromas of thriving happy plants. Brought back some good memories!

I look forward to creating a successful business here and feel lucky to be finding so many very creative and smart people in one place. Following you!

Best wishes,
Elizabeth

i had enough snow living in NY for over 20 years. Had a couple blizzards. So I'm fine if I never see snow again. Bah Humbug. 😉I'm happy here in S Cal with my palm trees.😎

We have been living in TN and don’t get much snow. I love how the snow blankets everything and how clean and white covers everything. Thanks for sharing.

Yes snow in Nebraska, just a bit early..ice in Oklahoma and Kansas City Mo. way too early. Maybe rough winter. But sunny in southern Florida.
