The #1 Key to Your Affiliate Marketing Success?
What is the most important thing for success as an affiliate marketer?
Personally, I think that choosing your affiliate programs is among the most important things.
$0.39 vs $2170 Commission
When I started with affiliate marketing, I didn't understand things very well.
I started promoting books on Amazon that I've found useful.
- The Bible
- Rich Dad, Poor Dad
- The Magic of Thinking Big
- The Millionaire Fastlane
- Etc.
However, there was one major problem that I realized after a while.
If I'd ever want to make a full-time income with that, it would require THOUSANDS OF SALES EVERY MONTH.
If the Bible costs $9.75 and I earn a 4% commission on Amazon, it means that I'll earn $0.39 for a sale.
In order to earn even $3,900/month, I'd need to make 10,000 sales which would require some world-class marketing skill and heavy investments.
Nowadays I use affiliate programs that can pay even $2,170 for a sale.
Notice the difference?
Perfect Affiliate Program?
I think a perfect affiliate program has at least these 3 components:
- The product helps truly your audience.
- You enjoy working on it (=you get to do what you love).
- It pays well.
I'm blessed that I've found an industry and many products where all of those 3 are combined perfectly. I believe that you can find such wonderful products in any industry!

2nd Key to Success
Another key component is persistence/long-term time horizon.
Even if you'd have a perfect affiliate program, you can't expect results in a second.

1) Choose a niche you truly love that can also help people meet a need or solve a problem
2) Learn how to create an online business from experts that provide outstanding value for a low cost.
3) Apply what you learn consistently

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for another excellent and thought-provoking blog post.
I must admit I have had very little success with Amazon, the commissions are so low. However, I do understand where you are coming from, I think we would all prefer the larger commission.
Once I have sold my offline business, I'll have time to dedicate a lot more time to my online business. I like the sound of your class, I have put the date on my Google calendar.
I definitely like the idea of higher commission products, I have watched several webinars on the subject. It's something that I really want to act on in the future.

Yeah, I think higher commissions is one the criteria, but not the only one though. Providing value and enjoying what you do are the first ones.

In my opinion and I say this loosely because I am only 2 months in...but one of the most important things that I have found about affiliate marketing is to find a niche that you are really interested in because there is nothing more unmotivating than dreading working on your content if you really don't care for, or are not truly interested in gaining knowledge about your topic. I am excited everyday to get on my computer and log on and research something new, I just started so I am not even making any commission but I truly just love what I am doing and it has helped me to stay focused and motivated. The money will come eventually I have no doubt.
Sometimes the popularity and the hype will overshadow the hard facts of numbers.
I prefer promoting Membership Subscriptions, because they recur month after month. As long as the buyer may change their subscription.

I agree. Membership subscriptions are great. Having automatic monthly income streams is great for financial stability and over time those recurring commissions tend to add up

Choosing the payment structure and definitely the amount of commissions you can earn are the two most important factors to consider when joining a program. Also, its relation to your niche. If you can connect it with what your own niche, then you have your product. Lastly, the right mindset! It all starts within!
