Why Internet Marketers Fail - Will You Be One That Makes It?
Wealthy Affiliate provides the training needed to build a solid income from online marketing. "Why Internet Marketers Fail" will answer some of these questions. I ask Kyle one of the co founders of W.A. his thoughts on the subject. Kyle said the three main reasons are....
- Not following training
- Not taking action
- Getting distracted
Not Following Training:
The training At Wealthy Affiliate is designed for a brand new person to go from knowing nothing about internet marketing all the way to having a successful online business. Is it hard? That depends...it is different for everyone. If you are doing something you like then it's not that hard. If you consider work hard then you could say that it is hard.
What happens is newbies read through the Wealthy Affiliate Online Entrepreneur Certification Course and they are saying to themselves...OK ya... but what is the real secret...come on really where is the secret to the "Kings Ransom"? After a few days of reading everything they can lay their eyes on... they have done nothing but read or scanned some of the training at WA. Now they are confused and lost!
You have taken no action so you end up in the Live General Discussion asking "How do I make money here". They haven't taken any real action or completed the tasks at the end of each of the 10 lessons in Wealthy Affiliate Online Entrepreneur Certification Course. If they had... their questions would be specific... how do I do this or that.
If you want to succeed then you must immerse yourself in the 10 lessons. Understand what that lesson is teaching you. You can't just read it and do the tasks like a robot...you could do that with out understanding what it is really teaching you. If you get stuck ask a specific question. I guarantee you will get your question answered!
Not Taking Action:
Why Don't They Take Action?
- They are afraid of making a mistake
- They think it has to be perfect
Look... doing... is how you learn! You can read about it but until you start doing... you won't learn much and for sure not making money.
Think back...what have you learned without doing? How did you learn to ride a bike or to swim? How did you learn to write good book reports or use a computer and cell phones. You learned by doing; sure you may have read the manual but the "doing" was how you got good!
It is the same with the internet marketing business. It takes lots of "doing" to be really good. Decide that you will divide your time available to this business by spending 1/3rd reading and studying and 2/3rd to "Doing" you will heading in the right direction.
For many people making a mistake is very painful. This is number one major reason why people procrastinate. They want their work to be perfect. So they never start. Look get a grip...It is not going to be perfect. I have gone back to sites that I created 5 years ago and to be honest they are embarrassing. With what I knew at the time they were as good as I could do then. So I go back and make lots of changes but when I go back a year form now I will need to make more changes.
Look it's a damn website...do the best you can for with you know now, it can be changed and added to a week or a year for now...It is not set in STONE! That is why there is an edit and delete button in Wordpress. JUST DO IT!
Getting Distracted:
There many ways that you can get distracted, so lets focus on the main one...Email offers.
You are new to Wealthy Affiliate training program and you have not experienced much or any success with internet Marketing. You will be vulnerable to any new shiny offer's that show up in your inbox. You see an offer that promises easy money for only $29.95. The way this usually goes...you click on the link and there is a sales page that promises lots of money quickly!
Look these sales pages are written to push your emotional hot button. The button is "easy fast money" in short order...So how do you avoid these distractions and stay focused on the training at Wealthy Affiliate? You gotta 'Unsubscribe' to all of them. This is an important step for you to stay focused.
I had this problem when I first started and after spending hundreds and hundreds of $$$ before I just opted out of their emails. It is a matter of staying focused on the task at hand and the emails were not contributing to me staying focused
Finial Thought:
Just to be clear you have to be serious about this training. It is serious training provided by two of the best in the business Here is how I do it. Read through the lesson to get the feel for what it is going to cover. Make some notes as I read through it; maybe jot down questions that come to mind.
Now it is time to start the course in earnest. The material may be new to you so make sure you understand what it really means. Ask questions and make sure you understand the answers and how to apply them. That is the big advantage here at Wealthy Affiliates...you can get answers not only form the two owners but also from other veterans with years of experience that are making serious money. All ya gotta do is ASK!
If your not taking action then you are wasting your time...when you get the thought that... OK I will do that once I learn more - is just a way to procrastinate...Do It Now!
In the internet marketing business (and it is a real and serious business, one that you can be proud of) distractions will kill your business quicker than any thing I know.
So unsubscribe to all those other emails....I am telling you if you want to build a real business you don't need 90% of them.
One last thing...It is OK to have fun building your internet marketing business...It's the best game in town.

For me, I would add trying to do to much at one time. For instance, I started in the course, started building a website, then went to the boot camp and was trying to work that one too because I was allowed more than one. I quickly got confused and frustrated very quickly and had to really refocus. Now, I an learning to build more on the website, such as traffic, etc. I will go back to the boot camp idea after I have learned everything with the website and know more about working on more than one idea.
Thanks for this, you have really laid it on the line. Everyone should take heed and realize that they are building a business and it takes work and patience. i like your formula: one third reading and two thirds doing...excellent advice!
Great post but I am afraid that the ones that really need to hear this. Will never find it. I hope they will but I have my doubts. But I know if enough of us keep posting positive thoughts that some will find us and we can help them succeed.

PERFECT TIMING! I just wrote a blog about sticking to lessons/one lesson at a time and not drifting off course and this is my MAIN downfall. Thank you RonnyG for this, I needed it so bad. Bookmarking now so I can keep coming back and refreshing my mind. Thank you thank you
Agreed, my main downfall has always been reading a lot and not having the "bottle" to go ahead and do it in case it didn't work - so I end up getting nowhere!
Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees, try to take in too much before you feel ready to do anything then you suddenly realise the whole thing has become overwhelming before you have even got started - so you drift off course never really getting anywhere.
Hopefully now I have found this place that will all change.

I liked your blog a lot. It gives me hope because I study the lessons hard. I do the actions and ask questions a lot and I have already unsubscribed from most of my email sites.
I am terrible at technical things so the computer stuff is a real challenge. Now I'm finally on the level 2 lessons. The first 2 have been fun and easy because they don't involve messing around in the innards of my website.
I write one or two articles a day.
Right now I'm moving well but there's nothing on my website except the about me and the privacy policy. When I view the site it says Edit in the upper right corner. Does that mean I need to fix something? Can I get rid of it? Should I be doing something else on the site?
I know you're much more familiar with such things than I am.
Hey Nancy...ya being an old guy I truly do understand the tech issues...they still drive me crazy so times...
the one thing I got advise on when I was new...was make a notebook when doing something new and techie...so the next time I needed to do it I would have a how to for that issue...it ..is hard the first time....but this stuff I don't remember well...but all I have to do is go to my notebook. Just keep working and it does get easier...trusty me...and the help that is available here is great.
