So in November I bought my first ever Paid Ad on Pinterest,I just wanted to move things up a bit. Before paying for ads, I was very familiar with Pins being stolen and URLs being redirected to some foreign URL but I hoped that somehow maybe Pinterest have a way of keeping Paid for ads(pins safe) how wrong I was.

They treat every pin the same, but if they are taking money for ads, there sure should be a way to keep promoted pins safe, unfortunately no, you pay the money but after that you`re on your own.

I Found 27 of My Pins Redirected

Now anyone who uses Pinterest knows that every time a Pin is repinned, it gets a new "Pin number" example below (the links don`t work don`t worry, they lead nowhere)

https://www.pinterest.ch/pin/5515505617553914/

https://www.pinterest.ch/pin/4571857673723964/

https://www.pinterest.ch/pin/6090419592697849/

As mentioned above every re-pin get a new "pin number" every time it`s re-pinned, so 1 pin created thousands of repins.

Checking them closely, I saw that one was leading to some high ticket affiliate marketing training, I was horrified,my pin is about Learning affiliate marketing and it re-directed to affiliate marketing URL so me as the owner will sure know but a visitor will not know the difference.

I DID NOT confuse my pin, it was a unique pin,no images,no fancy writings and stuff, just a simple message with distinctive colors and plain Arial font, could not be missed and not mistaken.

I took my time, found as many as I could, in the end I had 27, all taken by the same person and all leading to the same place.

Not Impressed By Pinterest Email Support

When I contacted Pinterest, the reply was

"Zendesk (Pinterest Support)

Hi there, I’m a robot.

Troubles with your Pins can be caused by your computer or its software. Please try the following steps:..... "

If none of these steps helped and you want to talk to a human, reply to this email.

Thanks,
The Pinterest team"

(Did`nt want to bore you with all the details)

The stupid things that even little me know to do before I contacted them,so I wrote replied the robot(lol) and said I want talk to human.

They got to me the next day or 2 I don`t remember so I told them exactly the pin numbers and the person (like you always do when you have complaint about re-directed pins). And proved it was my promoted pin.

So I waited for an email informing me they have removed the pins.

Hope WA will show the image, cropped but still rather large. But this was the exact image, there is no way pinterest could have lost 27 of these in a day. They want me to accept the image was never there.................

A few days later SURPRISE

Pinterest wrote to tell me they could not find any of the pins I`m talking about, the pins never existed.Say what am I stupid ? It`s not the first time I`ve asked for a misleading pin removed and they`ve always let me know when they remove the pin, but this time, they expected me to believe that all my 27 pins were never there in the first place.I recorded the numbers so I sent them for a second time just incase, but the answer was the same, those numbers, those pins are not there.

As bad luck would have it or ignorance(whichever you choose to call it) I did not Prtsc,so it was more my word against theirs.

they did not have to worry about my word, I just felt so tired, so stupid and used, I did not even bother to challenge it.

Do you know a way to keep pins safe? please don`t tell me to water mark, this does not help, the people who steal pins dont care.Lady bloggers here may know twinsmommy, she`s one of the people who encouraged me indirectly to join pinterest, her pins stand out but even her pins that are so much "her" I`ve seen being re-directed by the guy who stole my pins.

Keep your pins safe, dont expect much from pinterest if you loose pins.

Well, maybe it happened, as an exception to the rule, so to speak. Try to find out what really happened. Don't let it dampen your spirit in your way to find a better way of living!

I still do visit the person`s boards, I know most of his pins are originally pins from other people, so I don`t want to lie to myself that I was lucky enough he removed my pins just because I asked him to. He already had very rude choice words for me when I wrote politely asking him to remove the pins.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience and yes I still use the platform

There are rude guys but they are rare in this platform. Ignore and move on. Charge to experience. But l hope we could penalized such rude behavior though!

This is good to know, thanks!

A bad experience to have really.

Roamy,Thanks for sharing that is truly not right. For some one else to benefit from your work.

I know, there are some bad experiences to be made online for all of us.

I had no idea that could happen Roamy, thank you for sharing.

Pins do get stolen in Pinterest and usually, they will remove them in 24-hrs and send you a confirmation email.
I could understand more if they said they had removed the pins, but to act as if nothing happened and tell me the pins were never there in the first place.......am I so stupid? At that moment I felt they treated me like they`d treat a 2-year old being a 2-year old.I felt really small and tired.

That is terrible to be treated like that. Are the pins still there? Or had the person removed them when he realised you knew? It’s possible he realised you knew and removed them before Pinterest checked.

I`m sure he did not remove them, I had already asked him to and he had really rude words for me that I do not think he did and from experience, they never bother to remove a pin once they`ve redirected it, been that road many times before.
And, why would I be lucky enough that re removes a pin he stole from me, I still follow his board closely(till now just in case) and his board is filled with pins from other pinners and he`s re-directing them to the same high ticket product so I don`t believe he removed them.

Was just a thought, sorry.

Great!
