To lead you must first FOLLOW, and in order to receive you must GIVE

I'm serious. You can not expect to lead or be a leader if you do not understand that you must first FOLLOW. And in Wealthy affiliate that means FOLLOW EVERYONE and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. And these last couple years I've been learning the lesson that in order to receive you must GIVE. The same goes for success. In order to be successful you have to help others and want them to be just as successful as you will one day be.

So when i first joined WA it required some serious focus. There's so much to take in when you step through the pearly gates of premium membership. You can start building your websites, you can look through the video courses, you can introduce yourself to the community, you can peruse questions and advice from other members, you can search key words, you can research your niche, you can ET CETERA ET CETERA.

I said to myself, what the hell do I do now?

SLOW DOWN, Keep it simple and FOCUS. And it came to me. Why am I here? Why did I join Wealthy Affiliate? My why came in to focus. I came here to be a leader of myself. To be my own boss. I want to lead a better life. I want others to have a better life. How do I get started?

#1 is FOLLOW DIRECTIONS

There is a yellow brick road that leads to the wizard of OZ and that yellow brick road is the Affiliate bootcamp. I'm like a horse with the blinders on right now I am on that straight path. Kyle says everything you need to success is in this website. He is 100% right. I'm starting from scratch. I know JACK S-WORD about online marketing. I need to listen to those that have been successful in this industry in order for myself to be successful. It's not like the people who are successful want you to fail. in fact, it's quite the opposite. And that leads me to my next point.

#2 is FOLLOW EVERYBODY

I found out pretty quick that everyone i meet in Wealthy Affiliate adds value. They add value to your life, your business, your networking skills, your friendships, your stress and confidence levels you name it. Everyone here is quite helpful. FOLLOW EVERYONE. Because when you do you meet HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST LIKE YOU. hundreds of thousands of people adding value to your life? don't you think that makes you more successful than you were before joining wealthy affiliate? Are you starting to see the value?

The more people you follow, the more people there are to help you. The more people there are for you to learn from. The more people there are to give you feedback and help give you that much needed unbiased critique or provide priceless insight and advice. The more people there are to share your hopes, dreams, realities, and successes. And the more people offer you support when you need it, give maybe a kind word or two, place a comment on a review or like your blog post, the more confidence you have in yourself and knowing that this community is not going to let you fail as long as you don't let yourself fail. That is the best thing and biggest value WA has to offer, it's the community of people just like you wanting the same thing for themselves and their loved ones.

So please take advantage of the community as I am learning to do so myself. Everyone here just wants to help everyone else. We're all here to be successful. And it's as easy as clicking follow follow follow on the members that pop up on your profile, or the members asking questions, or whoever sponsored you and go through their network. or any comments section you'll find members to follow. And once you feel confident enough and your skills and knowledge have grown by leaps and bounds from the help of all the other members and friends in the WA community, it's only fair that you should show someone who is new and overwhelmed the same support, am I right?

#3 To Receive, you must first GIVE

I am a firm believer that in order to be successful you must help others be successful. Give and you shall receive. Simple as that. Success is the by-product of helping others. That's why I no longer search for just FINANCIAL wealth. I want a wealth of knowledge, relationships, compassion. Putting others before yourself helps put things in perspective. Why do you really do the things you do? why do you want to be successful? What motivates you?

Also I must stress something. It's also about how you give and What you give. Sometimes I don't know how to explain literally. Here's a great quote from one of my favorite stories to help explain what I mean. "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Blew my mind when I heard that story again now that I'm older. One of my favorite stories now and it's from the bible? whaaat? That ole Jesus was a thought provoker. that's all the bible talk I'm good for but that lesson I will carry with me for the rest of my life on how to be successful and how to help others be successful.

I am proud to be a member of the Wealthy Affiliate community. And this is a community of fishermen who are willing to help you become the best you you want to be. And yes I want to one day be a leader in this community. I have lofty goals. Dream Big or why dream at all?This story was inspired by one of my goals. Which is to be a top 100 member in WA by 6/25/2014. About a year from when I started. And I can not become a leader unless we are all leaders together. and that starts with baby steps. And I will follow the steps to success to get where I want to go and be able to have the means to help people and teach people how to fish, how to be a boss because there's no better boss than being your own. I will teach people financial freedom and time freedom. and now I am running sentences and going off on tangents and I'm just going to go out with out a conclusion. Thank you for reading. Thought I was going to write a paragraph....I am not sorry i did not edit. this stuff is raw and pure straight from my brain no filter. gotta bring it back to one word. FOCUS...now back to fixing my websites. and thanks to all the people who left comments on my last blog post your kind words and support motivate me.
