Gratitude For Democracy
We wake up this morning to a change of government in the United Kingdom. Independence Day in the US was general election day in the UK and having served in parts of the world where democracy doesn't exist, I'm grateful to live in a country where I can vote.
More than anything, I hope that our new government remembers that all politicians exist to govern responsibly, serve their country, and serve the people who elected them. Leaders do have to make tough decisions which won't please everyone. That's life.
I love the saying "Sir, I disagree entirely with what you say but I would defend unto death your right to say it". I'd love to live in a world where we can be respectful of other peoples opinions even when we don't agree with them.
Have a great day and embrace Freedom!

I'm sure it will Jeff and if it doesn't we'll get the chance to kick them out of power in four or five years.
Have a good weekend.
I agree, Rick. I just wished that some people in my generation don't have to be so biased especially when someone's opinions are somewhat different from theirs.
Myra ♥️
I agree Myra and I love the old saying "You can't understand another person's viewpoint until you've walked a mile in their shoes."

Do you really think the new Government will do anything different from past ones Rick???
I love the fact we still have democracy back home, but.... they are all as crooked one another!
A nice reverse on Brexit would do me the world of good though!!
👍👍😉
Haha, yes Nick, politicians of all colours and all nationalities have precious little credibility. It does beat a dictatorship though!
Whether they'll be any different though is a good question.
Hopefully, politicians will realise they'll ultimately be brought to account. The last lot became farcical and lost all credibility, hence the thrashing in at polls.
Certainly agree that it beats a dictatorship Rick!
Let's see what happens moving forward my friend!
