Empower Network Complaints Are On The Rise

Hi everyone.

It's nice to see that the number of complaints against EN have increased since I last looked (based on Better Business Bureau and my own search results). If you don't know, I once belonged to Empower Network and got the SEO wind knocked out of my sails! Why? Let's see:

  • they taught us to use duplicate content
  • the focus was on making money first
  • improper training of Adsense (got me banned), pay per click...and, well, let's just say, improper training
  • their emphasis on article spinners (guess who made money if you bought those, too)
  • there was no training of keyword research or writing good content
  • find your own niche?...non-existent

So why am I bringing this up again? Number one, we need to continue writing honest reviews for people because even with an increase in complaints take a look at what Google Trends is showing (the most recent spike is August 2013):

They are still on the rise which I find extremely surprising, given that they are dropping off the search engine radars. But they must still be getting the word out there because they are being searched for regularly, in fact I'm still jostling with one of them for rankings with Baby Boomers; another scam perpetrated on this and, arguably, every generation.

My number two reason for writing about this (should likely be my #1): I had occasion today to look at my old website (they don't let you delete them) and it is still there with all the duplicate content and other poor search engine optimization techniques. Because I cannot delete it or do anything with it tells me that I never owned it!

How different from Wealthy Affiliate where the focus is on learning properly how to build a website and build your online business. Another big difference is that you can own your own website and have total control, which is what being in business is all about. I learned a great thing about the support here the other night on Labman's after-Wabby hangout: we learn how to teach (and be taught), laugh, and feel each other's pain when personal circumstances become difficult. All EN does is call you a wussy if you don't get "all in" and pay them thousands of dollars. Which would you rather be with?

To all of you here who have also come from EN, welcome and I think you'll agree with me. To those here who still think EN is valuable, welcome but I encourage you to read Kyle's post on it...guess who's on page one of Google trying to change the trend. Thanks for reading.
