Domain Flipping Judo for White Belts
I just got asked this question: What Does It Mean to Sell a Domain and Does It Have to Have To Have Content?
You don't need content to sell a domain. The site doesn't even have to exist.
Domain selling is just as it sounds. You own a domain name and you can sell it to someone who wants it to build out their own site.
For example, say I own a company called Super Fly Suits for Men. Someone else could beat me to the punch by purchasing the domain name www.SuperFlySuits.com from GoDaddy or some other domain registrar.
I own the business name, they own the .com domain name.
If I want it badly enough, I would offer to pay a premium to the owner to get that domain name and use it for my business website.
It's probably better to come up with an alternative unless you can get a good deal on a domain name that is easy to remember, fits your purposes like a glove, and is a .com domain.
Domain flippers try to profit by speculating on what domain names will be popular and then sell them to buyers that just gotta have that particular name.
I'm no expert, but it seems to me that I would rarely, if ever, need to purchase a domain name at an inflated price. Well, maybe I'd buy SuperFlySuits.com. That's a pretty 'fly' domain.
I'm still new here, but that's my take. Do you agree/disagree? Discuss.

That's a nice clear description. Some people really complicate it!
