Learning from my 11-month old son
I was home for a vacation spending time with my wife and 3 kids, the youngest being 11-months old. He was crawling on his fours and holding whatever he could lay his hands on and standing.
And then 1 moment, he let go off his hands and was standing for a couple of seconds before he dropped to the ground. That did not deter his confidence or his passion to stand again and possibly wanting to take a few steps! He stood once again, balanced himself and stood for some more time before he fell.
As days passed, all he wanted to do was stand without holding onto anything and take steps, falling innumerable times. And then it struck me, do we do the same when we fall (read fail, lose hope, lose confidence etc). I remember this quote from Les Brown - "If you fall, try to fall on your back. If you can see up, you can get up".
Often, we give up and say this is not meant for me. But possibly don't take a swipe at it anytime because it has hurt our confidence. Rather, take a shot at it again and we may succeed. If not that, try something else. But do something. Don't sit idle!
The message i want to convey is - Have the inquisitivenes and creativity of a child. We lose it as we grow and have the world telling us what to do and what NOT to do. Follow your heart with the burning desire to grow and achive those goals.
Progress Fearlessly!
