Comments versus Feedback

So I get an email alert advising me that there's an opportunity to earn a credit by doing a Site Comment, so I click and I'm presented with a website that's requesting comments... I scan through the webpage that is before me. I then go back to the top and read through more thoroughly. I find several things that I like and start typing. Then I notice a comment at the bottom of the web page with a response from the website owner. The comment brings to my attention something that I overlooked. Clicking on an image on the page takes me to a full page presentation of the image, which like others on this web page, was an abstract art painting. Scrolling down I learn all about the painting, the artist, the gallery and even the asking price. Feeling this important I add a comment that I had only discovered this added dimension to the website, which had really added significant value to the visit, maybe a comment letting site visitors know to click on the image. Pleased with adding this helpful suggestion I click "Submit Comment" and move on to another offered request from a different website. Three more comment submissions and I'm feeling pleased with my efforts, so I head off and find dinner.

When I return to my laptop I find a message advising me that my Comment was disapproved telling me that my comments were appropriate for the back office not for publication as a comment on the website.

I went back over the procedure verifying that I had followed the proper process to make sure that I had not inadvertently posted my comment on the actual website. I had not; I had submitted it using the appropriate "Submit Comment" button. Then I look up toward the top of the screen and notice the Site Feedback heading. Yes, without realizing it I had confused Site Feedback with Site Comment. In my head I was doing a feedback comment but I was logged into the Site Comment tab.

I guess that offereing up a combination of positive comments about what I like and then offering what I feel are constructive suggestions is what comes most naturally to me.

Maybe I should just stick to offering Feedback!!

I did the same from the start. It is important to give quality comments when commenting. Read the post and what the request is. Are they asking for questions, discussion, opinion or experience? If you find it diffucult to comment then do not comment. No one likes to disapprove comments. But there are some comments that are too low quality or generic. I have had to disapprove a lot of comments for different reasons.

Many before you and many after you make that mistake. Don’t worry about it my friend 🤩

Apparently a lot of people make this common mistake, Ron! No worries!

It really is a learning process, my best advice with site comments, is to take your WA hat off and imagine you have just come across the blog. What you do want to say about their content, products or just generally thoughts.

The website feedback process comes in handy for what I think you are aiming at so you will need to keep those things separate as much as its done with good intent.

As I say its a learning curve but really worth it. Put your reader head on and enjoy.

I have had every comment approved apart from one that said I could not speak english so you live and learn :) and don't take it personally. Good luck , I really enjoy the process, Phil

Sometimes it emotionally distress when people rejected your comments. It's confusing to ask comments then rejected it? I know we can learned from it but emotionally somehow affects people commenting. Is it worth to ask for a comment on your site and rejection people trying to give comments?

Well I totally get it distressing but you have to rise above it. In the blogging people will comment all the time some things you like some thing you won't.

In terms of the business its part of the territory I am afraid. I know some people reject comments because its not saying exactly word for word what they wanted you to but that's crazy and not the real world. Its like someone asking for a testimonial for their work and writing it out for you. I have had that! I refused. Its not authentic and people see throught it . Debate is good.

In terms of your last question is it worth it? I think site comments is brilliant and some people will accept some won't its just part of the process. It's not personal even though it may feel like it.

At the end of the day if they choose to reject its there loss unless of course its abusive comments then its fine. It's their blog at the end of the day.

Keep commenting, its worth it....:) And remember its just feedback... There is sometimes gold in there you just got to look..

Yes, commenting is goo agreed on that. It's like separating personal to business deal. Its quiet interesting to be rock in the business. Thank for that, cheers Phil!

great my pleasure !
