According to an article by CNN, Google may freeze traffic to you website, if it has been hacked. They will in effect "blacklist" your site because of malware that may have been placed on it by some hackers. People may lose many sales if they don't monitor their sites on regular basis. This recently happened to a member here that had worked many months building up his site... it has steadily increased and then took off exponentially a few weeks ago... end of last week... it was crashed(servers crashed or was hacked... not known for sure), some of his files and such were missing... it was hosted here... and google blacklisted him... lost all his rankings... it is really ashamed how that process works... I don't know how you protect against that... He is still trying to get help from here and google... sad...
the Grinch(google) definitely stole christmas for my friend so far...

At the end of the day Google is protecting its users.
