If We Could Just Ask Gandalf
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
I love Lord of the Rings. My husband and I own all of the movies, the books, and even the books about the making of the movies. The costumes, the storylines, the characters, the scenery....love it all.
One of our favorites is Gandalf, He is a wise but aging wizard, powerful in his magic and his knowledge. If only we could each have a Gandalf to guide us along life's paths, things would be so much easier. Sort of like a fairy godmother, but with a beard!
I think if we could ask Gandalf what path we should pursue to achieve our goals, he would tell us something age-old and wise that would help us make decisions for ourselves. He is a big supporter of self-awareness, after all.
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." - Gandalf
This statement rings true (get that, "rings" true...ha ha!) Seriously, we each have so many hours in our lifetime. We are not privileged to know how much time we will be here, but we do have choices to make.
Do we want to spend our time in front of a television? Do we want to spend it caring for our loved ones? How about creating beauty in the world around us? How much of our lives do we spend in monetary gain? How much time to we spend helping others?
Life is truly what you make of it.... especially online!
I think Gandalf would surely approve of Wealthy Affiliiate! We each choose our own niche, we each choose what we want to achieve with our website. We choose how high on our priority list our website is going to be. We choose to be patient, and determined or we choose to give up.
But all along the way, the members of Wealthy Affiliate are there to help with support, advice, encouragement and answers to the questions that inevitably arise from the "nuts and bolts" of growing a website. They share in each other's achievements, and commiserate with each other in frustrating situations.
The internet is, after all, an ever-swirling and growing labyrinth of knowledge! Kinda like.....
Middle Earth!

I can really relate to what you're saying, Becky. Back in the day when the books were very popular (everyone was reading them) I bought two Siamese kittens and named them Gandalf and Galadriel. I miss them both. ~Marion

Gandalf is so wise. I love when one can pick up wonderful statements of inspiration from literature. (Actually, I pick them up off of Pinterest because I don't read that much. )
