I did it! 1000 Youtube Subscribers in 6 Months!

I started my Youtube Channel in Dec 2018 and probably published like 10 videos. I got a few subscribers during that month and I remember sighing and telling myself that it was going to be a long road ahead.

I really felt down at first, thinking that it was gonna take me a long time. I felt like I was starting over with a new website and I KNEW the hard work required to become successful.

I kind of let it hang, didn't really publish new videos and probably got about 12 total subscribers by end of June 2019. But something changed. I really wanted to see success on Youtube.

That's when I really resolved to take Youtube seriously. That's when I started to publish videos more consistently.

And even if I didn't work on publishing videos in the past 3 weeks because of the holidays, my subscriber count kept increasing! And now, I've fulfilled one of the requirements in order to become eligible for monetization.

That's so exciting!

But a lot of people only see the success and not the hard work behind it.

To be honest, it was a challenge. I hated listening to my own voice and recording myself. At least with my website, I enjoyed putting words on paper and typing. I still felt safe on the other side of the computer, where nobody could see or hear me.

But video was different.

I felt like I was putting myself naked to the world. Now, everybody would know me, see me, hear me. I was scared of embarassing myself.

But slowly, I came out of my shell. I became better as I practiced and I no longer felt weird listening to my voice or seeing myself in the video. I also became a bit more proficient at video editing, a skill I absolutely HAD to learn to improve my videos.

But I finally did it!

Although I met the requirements in the number of subscribers needed to become eligible for monetization, I am yet to meet the 4000 hours watch time. But just like with the subscribers, I know that if I keep working on it, that I'll meet that requirement in the coming months.
