Have Enough Time

As a Sales Manager and Trainer that comment was without a doubt the one that frustrated me more than any.

Really, you don't have enough time---as if some have 24 hours in the day others less, can anybody have more? Having time or lack thereof is not the question, it's how we MANAGE the TIME we have.

When someone says "I simply don't have enough time" , they are really letting you know that cannot manage their time. 24/7/365 are the same numbers for all of us.

In trying to understand some of the dilemmas people had with time management, I did some extensive research on what works and what fails. Findings too extensive to discuss here, maybe I can include in my next book (if I can find time to write it). -:)

One solution that I did discover was having people to switch from:

a CLOCK that might as well be broken --------TO:

A COMPASS that could provide some direction

This idea was taken from THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE A book that is a must in organizing your schedule.

A quote about time availability that I love is one from Martin Luther, when asked about his plans for the next day, he replied, "work, work, work from early to late-- In fact, I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer". Looks like he found some time. The 7 habits to practice:

  • Habit 1: Be Proactive. ...
  • Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. ...
  • Habit 3: Put First Things First. ...
  • Habit 4: Think Win/Win. ...
  • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. ...
  • Habit 6: Synergize.
  • Habit 7: Sharpen The Saw

Good discipline Rick, Best Alan

I know the 7 habits well. I became much better at managing my time when I eventually learned the skill of prioritization. Until then I always set myself up for failure because I was always convinced everything was just as important as everything else.

I have read all of S Covy Books. They are all great books. Nice to find a fellow Covey enthusiast.
Sincerely Sandy

Yes Sandy I became a Covey fan early in his career and believe his compass vs clock example is the best time management tool ever. Went to a few seminars and required all of my sales personnel to attend. Timeless info

Great post I really missed the images they did not come through for some reason. I guess people don't know how to manage the time that well. I know I don't because I do have so much to do. I will figure something out to fit it all in. That is why I love what I am doing because I can work when I want or not work.

Had a ooops moment -;) corrected Thanks for your comments

No problem You are very welcome

Looks like your pictures did not come across Rick. Also, was there more content?
