The Elusive Niche
Maybe some of you Wealthy Affiliates out there are (or were!) in a similar situation as me:
One of the very first tasks as a WA member is to determine your “niche”, or what you will promote on your website. We are told that a good place to start are our passions. I actually had a difficult time thinking of something that I was passionate about, that I could somehow monetize.
Focusing on the negative perhaps, it didn’t take me long to conclude that I don’t really have a passion for “stuff” that I might then go and sell. In fact, being an engineer for 30-some years has pretty much vanquished all my entrepreneurial spirit (or so I thought).
So how would I be able to come up with a “niche” that was actually marketable?
For the last 6 months or so I have lived and breathed and perfected the art of accelerating my pace to retirement. So I thought – maybe this is my “passion” – could I then somehow turn this into my niche?
If so, among other things, I would have a ready source of a lot of original content and experience to apply to my site.
I googled a few keywords related to “retirement” and found a ton of people doing just that – providing information relating to retiring early, investing for retirement, earning extra income in retirement, etc., and many were monetizing their sites with ads.
Within less than a minute I had enough information to see that this was going to be my internet marketing niche!
Best of luck to everyone here at WA!
Randy

I did something very similar Randy! I created my boostyourretirementincome.com website as a way to promote Wealthy Affiliate.
Best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

Shawn
