Disclaimer:

This blog post is dedicated to new affiliate marketers. For those coming into this arena for the first time, welcome to the Wealthy Affiliate platform. Let’s make this the best experience of your life. As a newbie myself, I empathize with you 100%. I had no knowledge of affiliate marketing when I came to this platform 2 years ago. I have learned enough to say that my online business is up and running well.

My main take home today is to “Keep your eyes on the prize and not on people.” Remind yourself of your “Purpose” and your “Why” for choosing this field. This will anchor you and keep you laser-focused. All of the information, ideas, and thoughts are things that I struggled with as a newbie. Hopefully, you will ace your affiliate marketing journey, as I have aced mine thus far. Don’t hesitate to be guided by your highest intuition (aka your gut feeling). Nine times out of ten, it is right. Going into my 3rd year with lots of gusto. Welcome aboard!

Stop Ruminating and Reframe

There’s no time to ruminate about not measuring up! Stop it! You have everything you need to be successful. Take a look around. We have the lion’s share of tools to become successful. In fact, if you are on the Wealthy Affiliate platform you are already successful.

Success is not always measured in dollars and sense. We are all good at something, right? Try to stay in the success mode with an attitude of gratitude.

Breaking the Cycle

Meet my colleague and friend Emily, a passionate entrepreneur who had always dreamed of growing her own business. We met on the UCR campus under an umbrella outside of the campus study hall.

She had the vision, the drive, and the creativity to make it happen. However, as her business began to take off, so did her habit of rumination.

Emily found herself constantly worrying about the future of her business. She would replay past mistakes in her mind, overanalyze every decision, and stress about potential problems that might never even occur.

It was like a broken record in her mind, playing the same negative thoughts over and over again. She knew she needed to break free from this cycle, but she wasn't sure how.

One day, while leafing through her research resources Emily stumbled upon an article about rumination and how it can be a barrier to personal and professional growth. She learned that her brain's default mode network (DMN) was likely contributing to her constant overthinking.

Emily Has a Meditation Breakthrough

Determined to overcome this obstacle, Emily decided to give meditation a try. She started with just a few minutes each day, focusing on her breath and trying to clear her mind. It wasn't easy at first, but she persisted.

Gradually, she noticed that her mind was becoming calmer, and her thoughts were less dominated by worry. The grassy hills and comforting landscape became her yoga mat at the end of a long day. Encouraged by this progress, Emily began to apply other tips she learned along the way.

For example, she started to distract herself with activities that brought her joy, like painting and hiking. She also began to break down her worries into smaller, more manageable parts, and made a plan to tackle them one by one.

Instead of focusing on things beyond her control, she concentrated on what she could change.

As my friend implemented these strategies, she noticed a significant shift in her mindset. She was no longer paralyzed by her fears about the future. Instead, she felt more present, focused, and capable of handling whatever challenges came her way. Her business continued to grow, and so did her confidence.

Emily's story is a testament to the power of breaking the cycle of rumination. By understanding the root of her overthinking and actively working to disrupt it, she was able to overcome her fears and achieve her dreams.

Wealthy Affiliate Has Gone Commando!

Of course, affiliate marketing is the main focal point. However, what about all of the amazing Artificial Intelligence tools? Are you kidding me? There is a treasure trove of great stuff here at the Hubs.

You can be a productive contributor to the Wealthy Affiliate Community (WAC), you can delve deep into the Hubs to the point of no return (it is that captivating) or you can power-up and do both. Don’t take my word for it, try it out yourself.

Get With The Program

AI has made its official touchdown and it ain’t going anywhere. It is a part of life and a part of the future. Might as well join the AI club. Don’t get left behind!

Another Tip

Don’t try to rush through the training just to get rich quickly. This is the fastest way to get frustrated, and you’ll burn out fast. If you are not one to jive with the Wealthy Affiliate Community interactions, that’s Okay, too.

WA-Mazing Got You Covered

Not everyone is a people person. I can relate to this. Some of you choose not to make or respond to comments and many are here just for the social aspects.

No worries, there is something here for everyone. Whether you are a social butterfly or you are as shy as a wall flower, WA-mazing got you covered.

The key is to find out what aligns with your personality and personal lifestyle. Your choices may even change overtime. This is the power of freedom.

Don’t Just Follow the Crowd

Be your own boss. In fact, be your own success story. Read up on successful affiliates. You may not see them in the community as much as others because they have better things to do. Make every minute count.

Avoid the Comparison Trap

You made the choice to “up your ante” and make your life better. Follow Kyle’s training, do your homework, and keep your eyes on the prize no on people. At the end of the day, it’s your passive income on the line.

Remember the Serenity Prayer

It can be frustrating seeing other people advancing on the platform while others are falling behind. So, don’t get caught up in the Obsessive Comparison Trap.

When things get tough, go to your mentor, to your Serenity Prayer or go to your “WHY.”

Get into the Hubs and Start Creating Like Crazy.

Everything is pretty straightforward. Kyle has laid out everything for you. There is no excuse to tarry in the plains. Get in there and start your journey!

Using the Hubs Wizard, the Article Designer, and the AI Author is so much fun. It truly is a Done-for-you heavy lifter. It will lift you right up to a passive income. However, you have to do your part. The ball is in your court.

Knowledge is Power!

There will always be Someone Better or Worse Than You, so avoid comparing yourself. You will only get frustrated and lose your steam.

Your main job is to grow and add to your knowledge base. Also attend the classes and webinars to supercharge your affiliate marketing skills.

Beware of the Narcissists

Narcissists are very dangerous people. I have dealt with a few in my lifetime. And let me tell you, some of them can take the wind out of your sail.

Unfortunately, they don’t have very many friends. By their fruits you shall know them. They can show up in schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and in your own family, so be prepared. They are very distracting and ruthless.

This is a Narcissist?

A narcissist is someone who has a personality disorder called narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). They think they are more important than others and crave attention. They also have trouble feeling empathy for others.

How Can You Spot a Narcissist?

Narcissists often talk a lot about themselves and their achievements. They seek praise and attention and may act charming at first, but then become jealous or angry. They might also be manipulative, making you feel less important than them.

What Makes Narcissists Harmful?

Narcissists can be harmful because they often don't care about other people's feelings. They can be manipulative and may use others for their own benefit. This can make it hard to have a healthy relationship with them.

A Cure for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

There is hope for change with therapy. A person with NPD can work on healing old wounds, coping with emotions, and improving communication. However, it's a challenging process, and not all narcissists are willing to admit they have a problem or seek help.

What Causes Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

NPD can be linked to someone's upbringing. They might have been raised by parents who either thought they were better than others, were abusive, or neglected them. This can lead to a lack of empathy and a need for attention.

Dealing with Narcissists

It can be tough to deal with narcissists because they often don't see their behavior as negative. Setting strong boundaries or ending the relationship might be necessary for your well-being. If you need help, talking to a therapist can be beneficial.

Famous Narcissists in History

Some historical figures known for their narcissistic traits include Alexander the Great, Henry VIII, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler, Jim Jones, Saddam Hussein, Charlie Chaplin, and Eva Peron. While they may have achieved great things, their narcissistic behavior also had negative impacts.

Understanding Narcissists

It's important to remember that narcissists are often insecure and crave love and adoration. Recognizing the signs of narcissism can help you protect yourself and decide how to handle relationships with narcissists in your life.

Stay Vigilent and Guard your Heart

Stop Worrying About What Others Are Doing

Life is too precious to spend it worrying about how you stack up against others. Plus, everyone's journey is different. Have you ever thought that the person you're comparing yourself to might have their own struggles you don't know about?

A Thousand Ways To Get To The Airport.

Affiliate marketing is a vast field. Therefore, find the best route that aligns with your goals and aspirations. Figure out a learning pattern that works best for you and your personal schedule.

Set up your SMART goals according to your specific timeframe, core values and lifestyle. There is no one-size-fit-all way to learn. Don’t be afraid to use outside resources for your research such as your public library, legitimate online sites, and YouTube.

Mentorship is Key

Since there is no manuscript for affiliate marketing accept for the Wealthy Affiliate platform (They are the number 1 source) it would be wise to also invest in a mentor. They will guide you every step if the way and give you a helping hand when needed.

Break Free of the Comparison Trap

It's normal to compare ourselves to others. It's how we figure out who we are. But young people often get caught up in comparing everything from grades to how many parties they go to or how many likes and followers they have on Facebook and Instagram.

Who’s Smarter, Richer, Cooler?

But here's the thing: constantly comparing yourself to others makes you feel pretty down. There's always going to be someone who seems smarter, richer, or cooler. Breaking free from this comparison trap is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Key Points to Remember:

  • The comparison trap is when you keep comparing yourself to others, leading to feeling bad about yourself and even more comparisons.
  • Falling into this trap leads to feeling anxious, depressed, or even having harmful thoughts.
  • Social media makes this worse by showing unrealistic images of people's lives.
  • To avoid this trap, try spending less time on social media, being thankful for what you have, and being happy for others' success.

What's the Comparison Trap?

Do you ever feel down because you're looking at how you measure up to others? That's the comparison trap. It's not rare to feel this way. A study found that 12% of young people's thoughts are about comparing themselves to others.

Comparing ourselves to others is something even animals do to figure out who's in charge. But instead of comparing hunting skills like wolves, we compare things like jobs and how much money we make. Psychologist Leon Festinger says we have a natural urge to see how we're doing compared to others.

We are Social Beings

Humans are social beings, and comparing ourselves to others goes way back. It helped our ancestors survive by knowing if they needed to step up their game.

Today, some competitive young people might put others down to make themselves look better. This can lead to a high degree of insecurity, where successful people, especially in competitive fields or from certain groups, are targeted.

Common Traps for Young Adults

Young people today see so many images and messages online and elsewhere that can make them jealous. And many compare themselves non-stop with others.

This is where the rubber meets the road. The key is to just be you and know that there will always be people who appreciate you and there will be some who don’t. At any rate, just be you.

All success to you as you embark on your affiliate marketing journey.

The best is yet to come.

Thank you for your insights into narcissistic people, sadly my husband has these traits. However we are getting prayer ministry for it and hope he will rid of this horrible behaviour very soon....

Hi there, Lovely Helen.

Thank you for stopping by. It is very brave of you to disclose this information. I will send you a pm later this week that you may find interesting.

I'm glad you are being proactive and getting prayer ministry. Prayer changes things. Naricissism is more prevalent today than we might ever expect.

It can also mask as gaslighting. These two oftentimes go hand in hand. You can find some amazing videos on YouTube. So, hang in there and I will send you positive vibes from the West Coast.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
Rachele

Hi Rachele

When it comes right down to it we are all here (on planet earth, not just WA) to help each other. 😎

Frank 🤘🎸

Hi there, Frank.

You hit the nail on the head. That was a big ass hammer and you nailed it! I see the way you roll bro. You know what? You are the reincarnation of Einstein, my friend.

Rachele🥰
p.s. Let's keep rolling!

Haha, Thanks, Rachele 🙏

I prefer to think of myself as a “Jimi Hendrix wanna be!” 😎

Rock On! 🤘
Frank 🎸

That's the way to roll, Frank.

What a combination - An Italian Jimmie Hendricks with an Einstein brain! Wow!That's pretty hot to trot. my friend.

Rachele😎

Thanks, Rachele!

I’m a quick learner and a hard worker who loves music, but I’m not as smart as you think I am. Lol

However, I will take full credit for being Italian! 🇮🇹

Rock On! 🤘
Frank 🎸

Alrighty, Frank

Sounds like a winner to me. By the way, would you like to share your IQ score? if not, no worries. Just send it by pm. Genius is 150 right?

The bottom line is, you are fine just the way you are.
Like the song says, we love you just the way you are.

I'm thinking about trading in Chip (aka my beau) for an Italian (lol). Maybe I can accrue more ROI (haha).

Nice chat!
Rachele🥰

Hi Rachele

Yeah, Italians really love life. They refuse to be hurried along, unlike Italian-Americans.

I lived in Italy almost four years and found the differences astounding.

I just have a normal IQ, like the majority of people. 😎

Rock On! 🤘
Frank 🎸

Hi Frank.

What I admire about Italians is their wonderful demeanor and characteristics. They place a strong value on family connections and they genuinely care about other family members, no matter what.

This has become quite rare in the American family system per se. I see a lot of bitterness and contention in my line of work. There is so much brokenness nowadays.

My stepson just had a huge disagreement with his mom and he has to stay with us for awhile untl things calm down. I just don't get it, you know. What's going on? Where's the unconditional love?

Nice chat.
Rachele😎

Hi Rachele

Yeah, I agree. I was brought up in a world where the family unit was a lot less dysfunctional.

So much has changed that could account for it. Parents are much busier and more stressed out. Children have a crazy amount of information overload and peer pressure, between online learning and social platforms.

We were raised by a stay-at-home mom and our biggest challenge was deciding how to have fun each day.

We saw our grandparents, aunts, and uncles on a daily basis, so it was all about family closeness.

It was a great upbringing in every way! 😎

Frank 🤘🎸

Hi there, Frank.

The only flip side to a big family is being sure that you don't end up marrying your 1st cousin. I am not sure if it is acceptable in the US. I know that in some cultures, it's normal for cousins to marry cousins.

One of our relatives married his 1st cousins. However, ironically, the kids turned just fine. Oftentimes, this is not the case.

There is a lot of inbreeding in some parts of Europe. However, there is also a high degree of birth defects as well.

I read somewhere that back in ancient times, brothers and sisters of one of the dynasties married to keep the wealth in the bloodline.

We also studied about inbreeding in one of my sociology classes. It's pretty graphic stuff. You probably studied this as a doctor. Some weird stuff went on back in the early days.

Don't know how I got on this topic.

Well, it's time to wind down my noggin, my friend. Nice chatting and I will be back tomorrow. Thanks for listening.

Happy weekend!
Rachele🥰

Hi Rachele

Yes, randomizing the gene pool can be a good idea.

We’re learning a lot from CRISPR. 😎

Frank 🤘🎸

Hi there, Frank.

I was just reading an article on CRISPR. Very fascinating stuff.
The stepson has arrived and the fun starts.

I have made a monthly schedule for him which include detox (if he needs that) and lots of counseling. He is officially in bootcamp right now (lol). So far so good.

His poor mom is so wore out. Bless her heart. Let's see how this pans out. I am having him go through a lot of tests to see what going on. Who knows, he could have a condition no one knows about, right?

To be continued.
Rachele

Hi Rachele

Wow, that’s great that you’re helping out your stepson! 👍👍

It sounds like you’ve really got your work cut out for you.

Frank 🎸

Hi there Frank.

Pray for us. JP will test every single nerve in your body and then some. I feel so bad for his mom. She has put up with his shenanigans far too long. He's the master of manipulation, for sure.

First thing in the morning Scott takes him to get testing to see if he's clean or using. He's 36 and has a chip on his shoulder.

So, he's in boot camp for the next 30 days. This time he's getting professional help whether he wants it or not. If he doesn't comply to getting help, the only other choice is to send him back to his mom.

We have sent him up north, to Minnesoto, Coroado, and even to his Aunt in Florida. Same old same old. They all said the same thing, he's hard to deal with. But not offering him solutions.

Let's see how it goes. My gut tells me that he is in need of intense professional help. He doesn't want to listen to anyone.

Signing off in 30.
Rachele

Good luck, Rachele.

Only a good person would offer him the help he needs! 😎

Frank 🎸

Thanks, Frank.

We all have his best interest in mind. Of course, I feel that we are doing the right things for him. I am willing to take the backlash from his side of the family. That's okay. Why put a band aid on something that is broken. It makes no sense.

Happy Wednesday.
Rachele

Absolutely, Rachele. 👍

Happy Wednesday! 😎
Frank 🤘🎸

Hi there, Frank.

How's things going?
Have a great one!

Rachele

You, too, Rachele! 😎

Frank 🎸

Comparing ourselves to others happens when we forget where we want to go with our business.
Thanks for the reminder.
Sami

Hi there, Shelly.

That's my little girl's nickname. She prefers Shelly over Michele.
Thank you for chiming in. Comparing is never advantageous to our personal or business growth, especially as affiliate marketers. We have to stand on our own two feet and be proud, right?

Nice chatting
Have a wonderful weekend.

Rachele

Such an important message, Rachele with so many thoughtful take away points. Thanks for the uplifting words! Enjoy your evening. :-))

Susan

Hi there, Love.

Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy day to chime in. Coming into the online business world is no joke and it can be intimidating, as well. Newbies need our love too.

Happy Weekend!
Rachele
