If they are both relevant to the same target audience and compliment each other, I personally don't see why not?
However, I presume your photography services would be local and your other stuff will be more global. So it might be harder to differentiate the two when needed

That is a great point John. The feedback has been quite consistent from others I have asked as well.
The target demographic for each is quite different and I have decided to keep the sites separate.

It certainly can be frustrating having to learn a whole new method of creating website. That I can definitely state from experience, as the internet is changing very quickly, constantly.
Having worked with an experimental software that SquareSpace appears to have been developed from, you may find the recent addition of the Block Editor that has been added to WordPress.

So you are recommending to stay on wordpress and move away from squarespace?
If you are going to be following Kyle's training, why not start a brand new website on the SiteRubix (free) server.
Once you become more comfortable with WordPress, you will be in a better position to make a judgement call as to either staying with SquareSpace or moving to WordPress.
