Wow – it's been awhile since I wrote my profile on WA – about 3 years to be exact. To update things a bit – my family has grown, my Baby Angel #1 is now 6 years old and I now have a 2nd Baby Angel – a son who is 18 months.
We still live in Southern Alberta, Canada, and continue to maintain a 2nd home in Nicaragua, although we haven't made it there since our son was born. We are homeschooling our daughter and enjoying the experience. We have been dabbling at being self employed for a few years now, all while maintaining the security of a j o b – however, as of last year, we fully took the plunge into working for ourselves. What a trip! It has been the most tumultuous, exciting, stressful, interesting, scary and fulfilling time of my life.
Initially I joined WA in 2011, however, I was not fully committed (even though WA was great back then as well). After quitting and rejoining a few times over the years, I recently came back to the community about a year ago, and restarted the training. From there I jumped to being an amazon seller and very slowly (very, very slowly ;) built a website.
I do have valid excuses for not being committed in the past ;) - during the last 4 years or so – we have bought and sold rice farm land in Nicaragua, purchased more land there (beach land this time :) and most recently we exported farming equipment down there. So life has been busy – but the dream of creating an online business has always stayed stuck in my head. I used to feel guilty about not committing more energy to this dream, however, now I see how my other life experiences will help me in the journey of owning and operating a website.
My biggest problem years ago was not knowing what niche to chose. Having had years to contemplate this, it's evolved to cover my true passion in life, which is helping others. The site consists of various handmade world artisan products for sale, in which the proceeds benefit the artists. As well as, an inspirational blog and other products for sale in which we will donate 50% of the proceeds to different charities. We are also working on incorporating a travel consultation service to feature Nicaraguan businesses that are giving back to the local communities there.
My husband is now on board with this online endeavour, which makes me way more committed, as we always do the 'crazy things' together. We have our children involved as well in the ways they can help, and we love the fact that we can make this our 'little family' business. In fact, we've named our business after ourselves – Javier, Natalia, Dominik and Krystal – J ND K. We are very excited about where this new journey will take us and have almost completed the website.
I feel like I should have updated my WA a long time ago, as lately I am enjoying making the connections with others on here and I realize I have not been sharing. So, I will be more diligent in the future, of maintaining the WA connection. I am continually impressed with the quality of people on WA and I look forward to the future of networking and meeting everyone!
Profile from 2013ish - left it here for interest sake - wow, what growth ;)
My name is Krystal- and I just want the time and financial freedom in my life to be able to 'stop and smell the roses'....lol! Over the years I have worked many different jobs, and even went to college to become a social worker, yet I never felt content in what I was doing. I always held onto the belief that someday I could work for myself, how I want, and when I want - so here I am.
I've been interested in learning internet marketing for a few years now, but never seemed to find the time. First working a full time job got in the way, and then being a mommy consumed all of my time. However, now my baby is 3 years old, becoming more independant, and I am going to try really hard to find the time to learn this internet marketing thing that I've wanted to learn for so long....
It is a dream of mine to be able to work from a computer, anywhere in the world - how liberating would that be! We live in Canada, but have property in Central America - we go there for a few weeks each year, but want to financially be able to spend winters down there. So again, I'd love to have the freedom to run a successful business from the computer, and I'm hoping that affiliate marketing is the key to helping us achieve this lifestyle.
Please feel free to send any advice my way, as I'd appreciate all the help I can get! :) Let the adventure begin!! :)
