Using Social Media for Your Business

Introduction

Good Evening to all you lovely people at the WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

Hopefully the reason for the title will become apparent as you read through this blog, but first a word or two by way of an explanation, why this blog is being written tonight, not earlier as I usually do, such as on a Friday or Saturday.

The truth is I have not been in the right frame of mind to do it, put another way just could not be bothered. Have had to force myself to sit and do this, so do sincerely hope that not only do I not bore you too tears, but that you manage to make sense of what I write, no matter how brief it may be.

Must confess that I am not low, just in one of those frame of minds that says do I have too, would much sooner sit and do nothing, know that you will understand where I am coming from, as I think that we all go through phases like this.

One reason is that I am more than a little fed up, in fact I am cross, we are organising a concert with the local Band and Choir in November to celebrate our centenary. Gave the compare a pile of USB's with lots of information on to compile, as he saw fit, his notes. On Thursday I was handed his script to check, in fact it was a direct copy of a presentation that I gave ten years ago, to mark the 90th Anniversary. It even had the date 2011 on it.

Not only is it wrong but totally out-of-date. The result is that muggins has now got to find time to write the complete script, hence not a happy chappie. May try to make a start tomorrow, putting the business om hold for a few days until it is done.

The Past Few Days

Have continued to put things in some semblance of order, this has included unzipping some more files which I had either forgotten about, or not realised that I did in fact have.

The files included a number on social media, I do realise that I have never really got to gripe with the main platforms, such as:

Facebook

Twitter

Instagram

Linkedin

Pinterest

So have decided to make the effort and see if they will help in my business, hence "Using Social Media for your business".

Several questions arise here,

Do you use it?

If so does it work?

Please understand that these are genuine questions, during my research into these social media outlets, have come across several people who think that posting on these sites is a total waste of time for the results that they achieve.

My own thoughts on those comments are they in fact posting the right material?

Are they engaging properly?

Do they link back to their site?

A number of others also come to mind, but felt that these would do to get a general discussion going.

In addition to Social Media, which when I have studied it properly, I will possibly use, I have found at least two possibly three subjects or niches for me to concentrate on.

Have also begun to get some reports and E books started, these ready to use as lead magnets.

The Next Few Days

Will have to allocate whatever time is needed to sorting out the script for the concert, then will have a look at trying to decide which niche to concentrate on.

One thing that I was starting to do again was to use my stop watch, allocating set periods of time for a subject or idea.

It is apparent that when I have sorted the concert out, that I will go back to using a planner, this will be time blocked, the hope is that this way I will accomplish more.

Conclusion

In retrospect, think that I have done one or two things that could help me run the business more efficiently, do intend to have a totally unbiased view on Social Media, which I intend to study in depth.

Just occasionally when you get fed up, that trying to work out why, or like me just typing away expressing my feelings does help.
