Introduction

Good Afternoon to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

First of all many thanks for all your kind comments regarding how I should slow down or start to take things easy, have begun to make the effort as you will see, which is also the reason for the title of this weeks blog.

Did intend to start this while I was preparing lunch, but needed to keep my eye on things today, then, of course it was time for my afternoon nap, just after I woke up my son and his wife arrived, hence the delay in starting this as they have just left.

Not a great deal has been done this week, did manage to finish digging the flower border, this is now ready for the last few plants to be planted, must confess it is starting to look really nice, just got the rest of the garden to do when I feel up to it!!

The Last Few Days

Have not done much on the business, noted down a few ideas, but really, have been almost in a just cannot be bothered mood, hence the title for the blog!

Not sure if I have mentioned it before but I have been interested in magic for a very long time, especially card magic, when I came over for my Father's funeral almost fifty years ago found a book on magic, this provided me with kick that I needed. In it were some addresses of magic dealers, so I wrote to some of them.

To avoid boring you too much, I did a few shows, even becoming President of Lincoln Society of Magicians, a post that I held for some eleven years. Whilst never losing interest have really just done the odd trick to amuse me and when I used to go the pub, did do a few there.

When I last went into the comuter shop the owner said it's "Magic Stuart", this set me thinking, so to avoid going on the computer and working, dug out a pack of cards and a DVD and began to practice again, guess what I really enjoyed it.

This will be purely for me, but it was great fun. I have missed entertaining folk, did used to sing as well but my baby stroke took my power. This did make me cross when I produced Lesley Garrett for the 90th Anniversary Concert of the Legion at Derby Cathedral as she asked me to do a duet with her, which I had to refuse.

Enough of my tales of the past, just filling space really, but I have always enjoyed entertaining, I suppose that this started when I was a choir boy and did sing the solo in the Church Choir. Whilst entertaining is something that I no longer do, it is part of my life that I will never regret, and look back on with fond memories, when I find old programmes and press cuttings..

The Next Few Days

Have some ideas to use for the Hub, when I get going again, will possibly have a play but will not over do it, fortunately I have the last four days of the cricket season starting on Tuesday, so that will keep me busy!!

If time permits will try to plant up the last few plants for the flower bed before it gets too cold!

Conclusion

As I expected it to be, it has been a strange week in many ways, but no doubt I will get used to having to slow down somewhat.

Be happy, healthy and wealthy,

Please do stay safe,

God Bless

Stuart

Hello WH,

It sounds like you took a much needed break. Interesting memories. Magic and singing huh??? I can't do either. Magic would be more likely than singing though. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I mouth the words at church.

I've been busy this week with getting estimates for a fence around my property due to neighbors that have no boundaries. It will be nice to make my yard my own without other people's children in it all the time. Funny thing is, I wouldn't mind if they had just had the courtesy to ask.

Also, I had some minor repairs in the house that needed done and I finally found a handyman! I thought I was going to have to make up a bed for him. He was here forever! LOL His rates were good though.

You keep up the good work. It's nice to have something like WA to stimulate your mind but you and I are retired so there has to be a balance and not all work. That's actually the beauty of WA!

Take care
Always
Your VW

Hi VW,

From a very tired VH. will try to reply with some common sense.

Such a shame that you have had to have the expense of having a fence around your yard, just for some privacy!

It sometimes is not easy to balance being retired and not getting bored silly!!

Take care and have a great week.

As always

Your VH

Get some rest............

Will try....!!

I'm busy in the garden too, Stuart. There's always so much to be done. Sounds like you are keeping busy...revisiting the magic sounds like great fun! Always nice to revisit simple pleasures from our pasts. Enjoy the new week!

Susan

Many thanks, Susan, may I wish you the same. The garden needs so much looking after.

Stuart

Thinking about the past can unlock so many secrets about yourself that you never realize. I'm finding that with writing this memoir!

Glad you are enjoying magic once again. Sounds like fun...and I wish I had your garden-tending energy!

The problem is that I had to neglect it for so long, which has made catching up very hard work.

Doesn't sound like you were 'Bone Idle' at all Stuart!!

Sometimes we have more productive weeks than others... what is important is that we keep on moving forward!

Hopefully Derbyshire can make it two home wins in a row this week...

When was the last time that happened??

Take care my friend and enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a wonderful start to the new week! :-)

Hi Jessie,

I dread to think when Derbyshire last won two home wins, let alone in a row.

Have a great new week! :-)

It could be a fantastic end to the season Stuart and at least they can't get relegated!!

You too my friend! :-)

That is one fact that is true! The funny thing is before I got into cricket Middlesex was my favorite team as Denis Compton played for them, he was my total hero!!

Be good! :-)

Nice! My favourite team has always been Hampshire!

One, because it was where both my parents were born, but.... mainly because my favourite player when growing up, Robin Smith played for them! :-)

Remember him well.

Certainly my all time favourite English player Stuart!

But... all time favourite player from anywhere has to be Brian Lara! :-)

One of our up-and-coming players Harry Came, came from Hampshire. His Dad Peter played for their seconds, he now has a vineyard in Hampshire.

Harold Rhodes was at the game today, wearing his England blazer.

Brian Lara was awesome.

Cricket was rubbish! :-)

Nice!! I wouldn't mind having a vineyard in Hampshire!

Mr Rhodes is another legend... hope you managed to enjoy a quick ale or two with him!!

Take care buddy and enjoy the rest of your week! :-)

Magic Stu, how are you.
Do what you need to do and forget the rest.
Bux

Hi Bux, I am just magical !!

I intend to have more me time for now.

Stuart
