Do aged domains really make a difference in the search engines?
What is better, a domain with a PR3 that has a creation date of march 2014 or a domain with a creation date i

If you follow the training here, then content is what matters - not really domain names, or ages etc - of course if you don't update your website for 17 years, then it's unlikely to get punted to the first page of Google/Bing/Yahoo etc :)
Yes, my next question was, if I get a 15 year old domain and write quality content constantly, will it get ranked a lot faster than a new domain?
The only benefit that would have would be that Google already knows that domain exists. So there might be a *slight* increase in ranking speed, but I'd say the increase would be negligible and probably not worth whatever the cost is that they're trying to sell the domain for.

People these days are searching for content on their phones, pads whatever - they are not so intent on exact domain matches.
My boys for example, 6, 9 and soon 12 - don't know what a domain name is - they search, and they click - a domain name means nothing. And I would be VERY surprised if Google hasn't picked up on that fact about the new generations.
You could have a new domain called "thisIsMyNewDomain.Com" and post content about recipes, that ranks just as quick as posting content to a 15 year old domain name.
Domain names are good for us "oldies" (no offence intended), but I see little use for them in the present/future. Domain name companies are realising this, and trying to sell new TLDs (Top Level Domains) - that's my opinion - to try and make money before the bubble bursts.
I can see a time where there will be no websites - just links to content/pages/posts - that serve relevant content, without all of the extra, no use pages.

That makes sense.. But I also think that domains are a pretty lucrative industry and don't know if Google would do well in going against them and they might even get some of the cut, who knows.

I have had a .co.uk for 14 years - didn't think to register the .com, as my market was UK based. Someone registered the .com and has been paying for it for many years, and has tried to sell it to me for £27,000 GBP.
Now if he'd said £200 GBP, I maybe would have bought it - he'd have made a small profit, and stopped himself spending unnecessarily for the next 50 years, in the hope I would think 27k was a good price.
So, if they want to be realistic business men/women, they can make money - but not like a real estate agent, buying some crappy land at $1000 per acre, and waiting for some developer to come along, and demand $1m per acre. Not going to happen.
Business is business - but greed is greed - I think most people with their heads screwed on, will see it like that,

Matt cuts talks crap, because they don't want you to know what actually works, age domains have authority and will rank better than most new domains
What Matt cuts says and what Google actually does are always miles apart
Matt cuts give the same answer to every question - Just create quality content and nice, friendly and lovely Google will do the rest
Google is a multi billion dollar money sucking advertising giant that thinks it is god and plays that role
If you point high page rank links to your site it will shoot to the top because Google algorithm is based on age and authority
You could write a bunch of horse shit on your site point high PR links to it and it will reach page one
Google wants everybody to believe that their super duper algorithm is so sophisticated that only quality site reach the top
People buy aged domains for a reason because they have authority and will out rank any new domain
Google is not as clever as you think, but it is clever at making us all believe what its propaganda chief (Matt cuts) spews out of his mouth
I would rather ask Micky Mouse about SEO than matt cutts

Thats what I was afraid of.
I was checking Flippa and other sites and aged domains sell for quite a big price and I wanted to know if they are actually worth it.
I've also heard a lot of stuff about Matt Cutts saying stuff thats not true.
Most of the stuff he says is not true, these domains sell for a big price for a reason, they rank higher otherwise no one would buy them

Any proof they rank higher? I'd expect they sell for a higher price because people believe they rank higher and are willing to pay for a shortcut, even if it doesn't work.
I know many successful marketers that use them all the time, if they did not work most people would soon cotton on, and they would not still be selling at a high price the market it self decides on value and if the perceived value was not in them the sales would simply dry up

In theory yes. The more authority your site has the fast posts/pages get ranked. But Google has seem to take a lot longer to index now. It used to be super quick. But again, the more authority it has the quicker the indexing.

I just finished the level 2 certification course about traffic. What I got from this course is all I have to do is find low competition keywords with some traffic and write quality
Hi rafa, I wish it was that easy I too have just finished level 2 course. After I linked up with Google+ my photo shows up beside one of my posts and in that particular lesson Kyle states that Google will look more fairly on you if the content is up to the standard required.
If it was that easy everybody would be doing it, best way to find out is to build your site then write your content and see if it gets ranked
Every niche has a different level of competition so it also depends on that

No problem, that's one of the great parts of the community is that everyone will pitch in.
The best way to check your rankings is to search your keyword phrase in private browsing mode(firefox/chrome) as this will tell you where you are for the phrase :)
As far as how long after content, I can tell you that it will differ based on keywords. I have had my website built since day 4 I think, and then 9 days after it was fully built I was doing one article a day and that is when I ranked. That's not to say that it will happen 9 days after everyone is done their site, but that was how long it took for mine. I used a low-hanging fruit for most of my keywords, so this might also affect it since a lot of my keywords will rank in exact results. I think if you rank in exact and you get enough traffic to that page there-after you may have a better chance of getting the real rank on first page of an organic search :) (don't quote me on that one though haha)
Hey Rafa, I only started 2 weeks ago and I can tell you that it is actually fairly easy to rank if you find the right keyword. The purpose of continually writing content is that the more keywords and content you have, the more likely you will rank.
My first rank happened a few days ago, and I came into this with very little knowledge on how to even get started with traffic to my site. Just keep producing content and it will happen :)
Don't give up, and keep on writing your quality content :) If you need help with anything just let the community know, everyone is very helpful here :)
