My very first 'real' blog

Hi Everyone, I've mentioned to a couple of you that there's something about blogging that makes my house get clean. Every time I open this blog window there's a project that just needs to be taken care of right away. Go figure!

So I've been a member of WA for a few weeks now I guess. I never imagined that I would have made a blog post let alone actually build my own website, but sure enough I've done it! It's not finished yet, but it even has an article on it, and a few pictures.

I had planned to put more pictures in it for demonstration purposes, but something happened in the formatting and they went crazy and started acting like they were opposite ends of magnets so I had to take them out. I still haven't figured out what I did.

There is so much to learn on WA. I find it overwhelming, challenging and very exciting all at the same time. It's kind of difficult to stay focused on the certification lessons. There are so many other tutorials and videos and programs on other sites to get figured out. I have activated my Google + account, and my Twitter account, and I've converted my Pinterest account to a business account. There's another learning curve to tackle on another day. I've also signed up for the Amazon Affiliate program. That's kind of a pain to do, but I've made a sale or two so it has been worth the effort. I think the best way for me is to just try hard to manage my time and keep a balance. One step at a time...

So far everyone here has been very friendly and helpful. I was reading some older blogs of some of the more advanced members and found it very encouraging to read their questions and struggles and triumphs. I guess it helped motivate me to finally let that coffee cup sit in the sink for a few minutes longer while I officially write my first blog.

It would be great to hear your comments or if you have any questions that I can help with I'm very happy to.

Hi Rae - Sounds like you are making great progress. There are lots of opportunities to learn here, so it can be quite distracting. Take your time, absorb it all and everything will fall into place.

Thanks for the encouragement Patrick. It's always nice to hear. : )

You really need to set up 'office hours' to assist in getting in and getting done!

This is the time you feel you need, alone or, if there are others there, they are to leave you alone. It is sometimes hard to do this, I understand....

That's a good idea Mickey, thanks. I am working on restructuring my days. After the constant business of raising 4 kids this quiet just feels like I have all day, then before I know it the day is almost gone. I'll get it down soon. It's just a matter of developing the habits of watching the clock and balancing my time. ; )
Thanks for the reminder.

I had four kids, also. (that was years ago and I was gone all day at work!) so I do know that is an issue. The only day I really can not follow my own advice is on Sundays when all of the grandkids show up!

Family first! ; )

Congrats. on your progress, here's wishing you every success! :)

Thank you Rich!

Wow! You've already made sales? That's impressive. I need to catch-up. :)

I haven't signed up for any Affiliate Program yet. I just launched my websites so I'm still trying to get traffic and visitors. In fact, just launched one today.

How long did you wait until you signed up for an Affiliate Program? Did you wait until your visitor count hit a certain average?

Honestly, I had already started the sign up process with Amazon when I started here at WA. Part of the process is that you need to have a website to link to their products but I didn't have one yet. That's where WA came in. Now that I've been here a little while I've learned that Amazon is not the best affiliate program. There are several others that pay more. I am going to be looking for others to sign up with in the next few days. People have said to check with Commission Junction for programs and Etsy is supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't checked myself yet.

Thanks for responding to my question. I learn better through experiences. :)
