Hi Felton, Thank you for the compliment of asking me for feedback. I try to give the type of feedback that would be helpful.
I am happy to help.
As for the HC516, it's kind of a long story. Ill try to shorten it a bit. I have a bit of a sense of humor most of the time, and am can be quite opinionated at times. More so, lately, in regards to politics and the rude, and unnecessary insanity that I see.
Anyway, I have a pet project that involves a mascot, I guess that would be the best term. It came out of the blue to me and I find it amusing. Harlequin is the name of an old, but very popular jester, in his time, and 'cow' is more of a verb in my usage. It can mean, roughly, 'to chide'. ; So Harlequin Cow is the name of my 'mascot'.
I'll leave the rest to your imagination, but HarlequinCow has a FB page and will be building a website as soon as she learns how.
I'm sure you have figured by now that HC are the initials. Harlequin is a popular name after that movie. The one where all of the criminals are the superheros.. cant remember the name. lol
Ok.. to the feedback. Ill put in a separate reply.

Ok, first, an apostrophe indicates a possession. Do you think that maybe Newbies should have one? The advocate of the newbie would be The Newbie's Advocate.
-'It’s extremely important how the search engines will be ranking my website' might sound better if restructured a bit.
(The way the search engines will be ranking my website is extremely important. or It's extremely important that the search engines will be ranking my website.)
-My English teachers have drilled into my head, "The word 'and' is a connector, never begin a sentence with the word 'and'." I still hear them griping when I let myself break the rule.
-Paragraph by the circle pic- 'you too' and 'as well' sound a little redundant since they are in the same sentence. I'd choose one or the other.
-Next paragraph- I'd replace 'none of us' with 'we' or 'we all'
-Under 'Misconceptions' 'its not there fault' should be 'it's not their fault.'
-Another typo.. Under the Pros. People looking to make (their) lives better. 'there' is for the place, or 'there is (always room for..)' and 'their' is the one for ownership.
-Just above the Cons, you promised an honest review twice. It's extra honest. ; )
-On the main menu, Reviews.. typo!
-Last.. Finally! My name only has 3 letters but your page requires 8 letters to post a comment. ? So I faked it.
I like the layout and writing style. The content is really good. It's interesting and informative. The links seem to work well.
I hope this helps..

AND I wonder if you would have some time to return the favor for me?

You asked me what I was blogging about.. here it is... I'd really like to say its finished, but its only 540 words. How are you doing with the whole 1000 word quota thing? When you get a moment would you give it the once-over? Thank you so much!
I really need to fluff it out more... but I can't think of anything else to say.. any suggestions? oh, There artists' names are linked to bios and the 'ism's are too!

ABSTRACT WALL PAINTINGS -LIVELY UP YOUR SPACE

There are times when the most difficult thing is to step outside your comfort zone and try something new. However, when it comes to decorating your walls, why not consider using abstract wall paintings? That may be just the thing you’re looking for! But before we go any further, lets define exactly what abstract art is.

Abstract Art - A Fresh Outlook

Sometimes called nonobjective or nonrepresentational, abstract art is defined as art in which the portrayal of things from the visible world plays no part. So in other words, an abstract painting would be one that does not depict a person, place, or thing in the natural world. It is the artist’s interpretation using colors, patterns, textures, and tones. In its purest form, abstract art is just lines, colors, and shapes. All abstract artists share a basic viewpoint – reality is subjective, and it’s up to the viewer to interpret it.

Now I'd like to briefly talk about the history of abstract art. Technically, we could go back some 70,000 years to Neanderthals drawing on cave walls, but for the purposes of this blog, we don't want to go that deep! :) Lets move forward in time to the early twentieth century with Wassily Kandinsky(1866-1944). This Russian-born artist is often considered to be a pioneer of European abstract art. There is also Vincent Van Gogh(1853-1890), Pablo Picasso(1881-1973), and Piet Mondrian(1872-1944). These are just a few of the many artists who were in the forefront of what now plays an important role in today's art world.

One of the main reasons I absolutely love abstract art is the many facets to it --Cubism, Neo-Plasticism, Suprematism, Fauvism and the list goes on! If you can think of it, there's an 'ism' for it!

Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an artist; I mean, I don't draw, paint, or sculpt. However, I will say that the first thing I notice when I walk into a room is the walls I can't explain it-- I just always have! I can't say it enough-- the walls ALWAYS add the finishing touch to a room, and can either make or break a design! An abstract painting can do so many things for a room. The possibilities are endless! In addition to serving as a focal point in a design, it can also brighten up a room and give it a fresh perspective!

When I bought my first abstract painting, I didn't even know what it was. All I knew was 1) It was different and that I liked it, 2) The colors would go well with my existing decor, 3) It was affordable, and 4) It was large enough to cover the ugly stain on my wall!
was. All I knew was that it was different and that I liked it, It was in earth-tone colors so it would go well with my existing decor, it was affordable, and that it was large enough to cover the big mark I had on my wall!
So, there you have it. That's how I became hooked. If you're like me and you just love to hang something different on your walls, step outside the box and consider an abstract wall painting. With its bold splashes of color, endless geometric patterns, countless shapes, and wide variety of sizes, I'm sure you'll find something to satisfy your palette and express that creative side of you just waiting to burst out! You may even surprise yourself with the outcome!

Hi! lol I missed you yesterday and today. I'm glad we started writing. I feel like I have company now and I'm not doing this alone. It's even more fun this way. I love getting to know new people.
Your draft: sorry, gotta take a few words off of your total. One of the paragraphs is redundant. It's like you edited and the cut didn't cut properly. 1st 2 paragraphs when you talk about your very first abstract art.
I love art! I draw. I enjoy pencils, colored pencils and pastels. It's my escape. So far I think you are right on with your descriptions and suggestions. I think you could add a bit more by introducing the artists a little more and what they were about.
Like, Piet was disgusted with humanity at the time and he intentionally did his artwork in a manner that couldn't be compared to any person or anything that a person might be able to place a meaning on. You could give a blurb about what was going on in society during the time that each of the artists was painting. It helps with art appreciation to be able to understand the piece, or for it to have a bit of a history. Like Picasso's 3 fiddlers. Someone asked him once what they meant, determined that everything should have a meaning. He said "It's a still life". lol He had just painted some figurines and everyone assumed he was trying to make a political statement of some sort. funny..

You're fun! I'm on Course 2, Lesson 6, but I didn't do my blog today. I still avoid doing it too. It reminds me of when I was in school. I always waited until the night before the deadline then stayed up all night writing. lol I'm trying to break the habit, but the cat needed to eat, and then I couldn't stand the floor, and then the plants outside were calling for water, and then I needed a smoothy, and by that time the cat decided to eat again and.. well, you get the idea. For some reason the word 'blog' gets my house clean.
See? I told you it's a good thing! ; )
You mentioned wall art. What is your favorite trick? Do you have pictures to show? Do you mean stencils, or freehand painting? Or do you do different art that you hang on the wall, like with plants or quilting or something like that?

I don't have any tricks per se; however, I do have a few pictures. I have to figure out how to get them on the website. I had to buy a wireless charger--thanks to my ! (grrrr) So now I can't connect my phone to my computer. Here is an old pic of one of the puzzles I did with my grands.. they have the puppies.. I took this when I first finished it... I do have a pic of it on my wall , but I can't figure out how to get it from my Dropbox to here..I'm not tech-savvy at all!!!
Reply
Rae516 Premium
Nice.. I think you figured it out. I haven't worked with Dropbox, but I'm guessing there's a file where you can open the pix onto your computer screen. So when you are in your page editor you would put the cursor where you want the pic to go, then up top left corner (like where my pic and name is on this window), click on the media button. It will give you a page that says choose file or upload file (I accidentally just closed that window, so I can't see it.
: / You click on that to browse the files on your computer so you would just choose the file where your pic is, select the pic, click 'open' and it should upload. I found it easier here than other times that I've tried.

I'm sorry I'm slow. I'm having a frustrating time of trying to get products onto my page. Somehow when I add the products to the page the pic is not adding, and then I can't get the items deleted to start over and I can't figure out how to add the pic to the description that's there, AND none of them are even in order. ugh! it's a mess! I noticed on your website that you linked to other articles. That's a great idea! Did you just type in the domain name and it will automatically pull up the article? I'm still trying to do research and get my thoughts together... this is very challenging! Kyle says you don't have to be a writer--hmmm! Not sure I agree with him on that one. :)

Good morning Tracy! I'm well, thanks. How are you doing?

I spent the day yesterday trying to figure out the Amazon Affiliate and Amazon Web Services thing. That's time consuming! BUT, I'm signed up in several different countries now, so if someone from there happens to stumble onto my website, like I do onto theirs sometimes, then if they click a product link it will direct them to their own Amazon in their country and I'll still get paid if they buy! I hope it will be worth it... lol

I read somewhere that when we add links to other sites and they add links to ours it adds a little bit more value to our Google ratings. They believe it shows engagement and/or popularity. The article said that the links to us are more valuable than our links to others, but both work.

I didn't link to them for that reason though. Honestly, I was just lazy and didn't want to summarize what they were saying. Linking to them gives them credit for their articles (no plagiarizing worries) and I still get to use their info. win-win!

You are a writer!! Your About Me page is great! It's very engaging. Don't get hung up on worrying about the spelling and grammar. That's what spellcheck (and proofreading friends, like me) are for. Just do some brainstorming. I keep a paper and jot down random thoughts as they come to me. It's all over the place! But it helps later when I write because all of the ideas are right in front of me to remind me what I was going to say. I get that weird block when I sit down to do it too. It's because it's still unfamiliar.

btw.. My lesson today says I'm supposed to write a blog, so I'm probably going to rewrite this and use it. lol Laziness!! : )
Reply
Rae516 Premium
Oh!! To add a link to your article from the editor highlight the text you want to use then click on the link button on the top tool bar. It kind of looks like it's supposed to look like a chain link, sort of. It will open up window and you paste the URL to the article you want to add and then hit the 'enter' button. There are 2 different windows that come up. I haven't figured out how to make them come up on purpose though, so I still just take what I get. lol The larger window will have a bar to add the text that you want to link to in your article. It is usually pre-populated though. ?

I hope this helps.
