Powerful Communication Through Storytelling

Hi everyone. So lately I've been watching motivational speakers and workshops for inspiration. I particularly like Marisa Peer, Bob Proctor and Lisa Nicholls though there are so many incredible speakers available at the click of a button! I've also been practicing meditation to bring my mind back into balance, ease stress and make good decisions. I highly recommend taking a look at the above mentioned speakers on YouTube and also Mind Valley, if you've not discovered them already.

I have just finished an online masterclass via Mind Valley with the amazing Lisa Nicholls. Lisa taught us how to use storytelling as a powerful way to connect with our audience/followers. Nicholls explains that when you inspire and give hope within your story, your audience become captivated by this experience you create for them. They can relate to you and in return will give you love, loyalty and word of mouth. There are around fifteen techniques that connect you and your audience. Storytelling is just one of them and you can learn to master all fifteen independently with Lisa. Learning to connect with people is rocket fuel to your career. I don't want to give too much away and ruin the experience for you, but what I did take from this online masterclass was that it is okay to be vulnerable and to share your story. This was something I was afraid of, along with public speaking. I didn't want to appear weak or to be judged by others. But there is so much power in having the courage to open up. There will be those that judge you, but they should not be your concern. It says a lot more about them than it does about you. For every one negative person, there will be another ten people rooting for you. That is why support networks like Wealthy Affiliate are so important to the success of your business. Engaging with others who want the same as you and encouraging one another is worth its weight in gold! I am now learning to shake it off (great advice from Taylor Swift) and let my guard down. How can I find my life purpose or help others with a great big wall surrounding me?

So think about how you can entertain, educate and engage your audience by telling them a story. Your story. Everyone has one to share! Don't be afraid to perform your story and add texture to the words to make it a truly unique experience for your followers. Take that pen in your hand or sit at your laptop/computer and begin writing the chapters of your story with intimacy and authenticity. Like Lisa Nicholls said, “You are the designer of your destiny; you are the author of your story.” ...
