Redirecting www to orginal domain
My site is called inclusiveliving.net. I would like to redirect any attempted access to www.inclusiveliving.net to inclusiveliving.net in case someone assumes that the www is necessary and they are trying to find my site. Cuurently www.inclusiveliving.net does not exist. Am I worried about nothing or is there a way to redirect somethng that does not exist?
I just realized when I clicked on the www.inclusiveliving.net that it does go to my inclusiveliving.net. Is my problem solved or is this a duplicate content issue that I should be concerned about? I never created www.inclusiveliving.net.

Not to bang the same drum over and over again, I have read posts by others that suggest that there may be problems with Google rankings with my original issue above. That is, if someone searches for my site with a www. prefix instead of my regular domain name. At least at WA this is not a problem. I checked with Carson and his response is below.
Hey Doug,
Don't worry about the redirect, it's in place because you either need to redirect WWW to your root domain, or the other way around.
We've chosen to redirect all URL's at WA to the root domain because Google seems to like that better. We've been doing it for 100% of sites hosted at WA.
The "WWW" version of your site redirects with the proper redirect that Google suggests, so it's all taken care of properly.
Carson
You can put this in your .htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://inclusiveliving.net/$1 [R,L]
# Disable server signature
ServerSignature Off
I just noticed that if I go into Jaaxy and try to find a keyword using inclusiveliving.net, I find my page for that keyword. If I use www.inclusiveliving.net with the same keyword, the page is not found. I may have proven that there is no duplicate content. Is that right? This is not something I want to leave to chance.

Is it better these days to use www. in your URL address (for example when printed on business cards and marketing materials) or without www? I know they both work, with and without, but what are the pros and cons either way?
do not use the www. i will use the http:// or https:// though personally else at a glance it could look like a misprinted email addy
Thank you. So that is the way you would print it on marketing materials?
