I have tried internet marketing before and failed miserably because I had no guidance. I really want and need to succeed this time.

I know that search engines don't like copied content but is it alright to copy a recipe and put it on your website as content?

Better if we use it as our inspiration only and create ourself recipes.

Great question Portia!

After your first Google search, the search field goes up top with both paid and organic results below. Click settings, which is below the search field, 2nd from the right, then click, "Advanced search." This takes you to the Advanced Search field parameters page. Scroll down to the last field, "usage rights." Click the "not filtered by license" drop-down arrow. You'll see your 4 other options which includes the "free to use, share or modify, even commercially."

Try it!

Cheers!

The copyright rules on recipes are a little different than most. The ingredients are not subject to copyright but the method and images belong to the person who created the recipe.

It's not so much that the search engines don't like copied content, it's against the law to reproduce other peoples work without their written permission.

I assume the receipt would be a photo copy, so yes that would be ok.
