Using Forums To Get Traffic

I have always heard about using forums to create backlinks, but have never tried it. About a week ago I was looking for answers to a very technical question about CSS and PHP coding. Looking through Google I found a forum page where people were talking about a similar problem. I decided to join the forum and ask my specific question.

Not only did I get my answer, I got 22 new visitors to my site in one day from one link. I'm seeing now the power of forums.

It you are interested in checking out the forum, you can visit here.

How do i build a forum in my page
can i do that

Hi Lucian,

There are hundreds of Internet Marketing forums but, yes Warrior Forum is the busiest with over 862,000 members!

You're right, if you can add value in some way then you can indeed generate quite a lot of targeted traffic to your site.

Nick

TKS FOR THE INFO WILL GO TO THE FORUM

I discovered that site prior to joining WA. To be honest with you I found that site to be a "get rich quick scheme" that isn't to say that some of the people on there aren't genuine, but it did seemingly focus on accruing large sums of money. I'm simply referring to my experience with WarriorForum, but Poorhouse by all means utilise the site to build traffic if its working to your advantage, be mindful though.

Hey Lucian,

You'll want to use Google Analytics to track where those clicks are coming from. If they are because of classic "link juice" that has served to increase you page rank, than great.

If on the other hand, if those clicks are because people within the forum are clicking through based on the comment you left, that's not necessarily bad, it's just that it doesn't have a lot of staying power, all things being equal. Once your comment gets lost in the mix, that type of traffic will probably die down. That means you have to constantly chase forums. That can eat up some serious time.

Having said that, if that particular thread is hot, you could get a bit more staying power in that others will follow the thread, see what you wrote, and click on through to your site.

Also, and this is a big one with respect to forums, if over time you become a "go to guy" within that forum, anything you start to post will be truly trusted and people will be more willing to click through to see what your website is about.

In the situation you described with respect to the 22 visitors, based on the fact that you got immediate click response, is that it was probably based on people clicking through via the comments. Further, Google's last big algorithm change has made actual link juice less effective than it used to be. This has been confirmed both in testing from Kyle and Carson and through hints from the big G (Google) itself.

Sorry to get wordy here but there is another benefit to forums that people often overlook. See what members within the forum are writing about. People use forums to seek answers to their problems. That could be the focus of products that you develop or content that you write. If you construct content/products based on that, it's usually a pretty easy sell.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks for the reply, I have thought about most of what you're talking about and it's a big reason I have not tried using forums for traffic. I am using Analytics to track where the clicks are coming from, I probably spend way to much time analyzing my audience instead of writing content like I should be. I did think it was pretty cool to see such a response just by doing what I would have been doing anyway.

Ah Warrior Forums, Jay has mentioned them a few times in the past few live trainings. It's mostly full of scams and scammers, so be careful. It may be a good source for traffic but not so much to learn from.

Jay actually created a case study site that is built around reviewing products on Warrior Forums. He talks about the scams and points people to WA as the better alternative. ;)

Yes, Jay is building a whole website about it http://warriorscams.com/

Yeah, I could tell right away that it was super scammy but they also have a lot of people on there that have some great technical experience.

Plus I think it's super important to get in to the mix with all the scammers, see what they're doing. Fact is, right now they are ruling the internet and people like us rare in this business. On the up side, their scams give us something to write about.

Your timing is amazing. I was JUST looking up niche forums! Thanks for this additional one. Coincidence?

It's a little hard to navigate through, I am still figuring it out. And I wouldn't buy any of their upgrades. Just go with a free account. So, far I have been able to find some great info on site building and marketing.

Thank you!

No problem, thanks for reading!
