Got Writers Block?
The success of your website all depends on the amount and quality of your content. You can work every day on SEO, Monitizing, ect... But without an abundance of consistent content your website is going to drown in the sea of information online.
I have a terrible problem with writers block. I get an idea, sit down to write, get a few lines done, then I'm stuck!
A while back I started using Swipe Files, and it has helped me tremendously.
What Is A Swipe File
A Swipe File is a list of catchy phrases used to fill gaps. Anything can go in to your Swipe File. Whenever I see or hear a phrase that catches my attention, I add it to my list.
Now, whenever I'm stuck, I look through my Swipe File and find something that fits with my article. This really keeps the flow going and gets me over the humps.
It can be difficult starting a Swipe File from scratch, I found an ebook a while back that really helped me get mine started. The book was aimed primarily at sales phrases and I feel that you should really use your own phrases to keep your writing unique. But this book can really get started in the right direction.
When I found it, I looked through and copy and pasted the phrases I liked. Once I had a good list started, it got a lot easier to start adding my own.
I have posted a link for the ebook on my website. It is available as a free download to any of you who are interested in creating a Swipe File of your own.

I copy and paste different, bits and pieces of information related to my niche, and when I am ready to write a post refer to those notes for ideas.
Good strategy! I have a similar technique. The idea behind a swipe file is to fill the gaps between those ideas with phrases that catch peoples attention and evoke certain feelings.
That's useful, thanks. Something I do is to carry a notebook and pencil around with me and anytime anything occurs to me I make a note of it. I always carry a notebook anyway, but it's serving this purpose as well now.
Another thing I do is to have an always open file. Then if I think of something while writing a post that doesn't really fit I put it in the general file for future reference. I suppose this is a similar thing to the scratch file.
Great input! I need to carry a note pad. I always have my best ideas when I'm away from the computer and forget them by the time I am ready to work.
