That’s right – all marketing is boring. It is either digging into you or making you put up a shield to protect yourself. It either gets to you and you engage, or you walk away. This is its purpose: to sort the wheat from the chaff, the customers from the window-shoppers.
Are you getting lots of window-shoppers? No point having all the traffic passing the outside and not entering them, enticing them to enter the shop.
Knowing what will penetrate is about knowing the customer you want, offering the relationship they want, and using the product to build that relationship.
It is about going for the heart – even if you have to play a little first, get them thinking or doing something till the fun of it gets them hooked. The direct route is not always the best. But once that heart connection is made you can go deep. That’s how you’ll keep them.
