A Virus is Killing My Website
Nope, I'm not talking about a computer virus, but an actual virus that is causing terror in the world at the moment. Yeah, I'm talking about the coronavirus. In this blog I'm not going to elaborate my sympathies for the people who have been affected by it, although my heart and prayers go out to them. Here I'd like to talk a bit about the dangers of putting your money on one market.

People who have chosen the travel sector as their niche are probably just as I experiencing some differences at the moment. My traffic has been cut in half since a couple of days ago because of the coronavirus. And although we know that life will be back to normal at some point, we can't sit around all day hoping the sun will come out soon.
With my website I've been very lucky that I didn't focus for a 100% on traveling as I'm too chaotic to just talk about one thing. I wanted to share my experience with some other things related to my niche, but are actually not about travel at all. Which has been my luck as I've still got some traffic coming to my website.
My advice to all of you out there in the travel world is to start thinking outside the box. At this moment writing about the best beaches in the world isn't going to attract traffic at all! People are going to stay inside for a while until we've resolved the crisis that is going on.
It might not be that easy if you've always been writing about traveling the world. Check your audience and see where most of your traffic is coming from. Maybe you can write about some quiet and remote places where people won't be too exposed. Or maybe you can write about how to spend the holidays at home.
You as a marketeer should play the market and jump on what is hot at the moment. This is why the big companies survive, this is why they are getting bigger all the time. They know their audience and they know what works and doesn't. And if it doesn't work, they're not afraid to change.
That's it for now!
Take care of your loved ones and be safe!

It is true that the world of travel and entertainment in general is not in good shape. The best thing to do is to diversify in order to have other sources of income and not be left without any resources. We are not yet done with this virus but I hope everything will be better for you in the coming weeks.

Thank you Ingrid! I'm still attracting traffic as I didn't focus myself 100% on traveling, which has been my luck. I think by now a lot of travel websites have crashed... I've seen some statistics that say that there has been a 50% decrease in search results for travel-related content.
Here's a link to an article at ubersuggest where they've analyzed their search data and are looking at what's working now and what isn't: https://neilpatel.com/blog/coronavirus/
PS: no it's not an affiliate link
