My First Unsolicited Comment

Like most people going through the WA training, I use the "Need a Comment" thread heavily. Whenever I write a new post, I first provide comments to some of the requests in that thread, asking for one in return, and then I post an open request. Most of the time, this is good for three or four comments on average.

Yesterday, I received two comments on my latest post, which was a little low, but I noticed something special about one of them - it did not come from the comment request thread, nor did the poster give a website link in the Name / Email / Website fields.

It seems highly likely to me that this comment came from outside the WA community - my first one!

This was very encouraging for a couple of reasons.

One, it means that people outside of WA are coming across the content, which means traffic is starting to trickle in. That's good news. I checked my affiliate links, and in the past few days, I've had 3 clicks (no sales, yet). This is very small, but it's better than zero, and it means I'm heading in the right direction.

Two, and perhaps most importantly, it means that people are being helped by my content. Someone who had no ulterior motive read what I wrote and decided they'd like to comment on it, and the comments reinforced what I'd said in the article (it was a product review, btw).

So, it's a little thing - a single, unsolicited comment - but it marks a big milestone for me.

sounds as if you are beginning to be noticed

It seems that way, which is awesome.

It's also possible that someone saw my request for a comment and left one, but for whatever reason didn't associate their website with their name and didn't tell me they'd left a comment, but that seems unlikely.

So, I'm going with "unsolicited comment," and if that's the case, then I think I'm on the right track.

Thanks for the encouragement!
