Let Me Be Honest - I'm As Slow As A Slug!

UPDATE May, 2017: Considering I am a professional procrastinator and I am the mule that needs kicking into gear I thought it wise to put an update here. I was asked by another here in WA how I was going because I have been in WA for a longer period of time than her and she wanted to get an honest opinion. Time to 'fess up! When I wrote my profile in 2015, I once again put internet marketing in the "too hard," basket and cancelled my WA membership vowing to be back. And back I came. Toward the end of 2016 I saw a WA ad again. I went premium again and this time, although still very tardy and slow, I have stuck with it and plodded forward. This is my first website if you want to take a look:

www.theorganicwarriors.com

It is still a work in progress but after watching the story of Ray Kroc in the movie The Founder, I am persisting and staying determined to make this work.

I am slow at blogging because I agonise over trying to make them quality content for visitors. This is one thing that Kyle says a couple of times in the training and that has resonated with me. You need understand that a PERSON will be visiting your site and you need to give them something of value FIRST.

When it comes to writing I am not able to let it flow like Kyle says in his training. I find I am always getting ideas, trying to think about the structure of the blog, then forgetting ideas. LOL.

I am actually having a good time learning WordPress now. I didn't like it in the beginning because I have used those other drag and drop website editors before and was more comfortable with the way they work. But now I am becoming more and more comfortable with WordPress which has been very satisfying and full of little surprises for me.

I mentioned the movie The Founder. You may or may not like what Kroc built (McDonalds). You may or may not like the way he conducted himself when it came to business or his personal life. What can not be denied is the fact that he started on the successful part of his epic journey when he was 52 years old and in just a relatively short period of time he created a behemoth of a company which saw him outstrip many, many other successful businessmen and women at a time in life when 99% of people would be starting to give up.

I would like to quote the part of the movie that really "Got me." It was the part of the movie where Kroc was at a motel after a tough slog of a day trying to sell milkshake mixers as a travelling salesman. The motivational record he puts on had something in it that I have never heard before in other "positive thinking," books. I believe that most people who have made it here to Wealthy Affiliate would have heard of such books by the likes of Napoleon Hill and many others. however, this record said something different.

The record is called "The Power of the Positive," by a fictional author called Dr. Clarence Floyd Nelson. It is apparently an homage to a real book called, "The Power of Positive Thinking," by Norman Vincent Peale. I did some reading on Peale. He was both lauded and criticised. People who pop their heads up out of The Rat Race to take a look around are often shot at! I do not know enough about him and his methods to comment any further on the man. I could not determine if these words were actually from him but they are the words that stuck in my mind like concrete:

"PERSISTENCE! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.

Talent won't. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.

Genius won't. Unrewarded genius is practically a cliché.

Education won't. The world is full of educated fools.

PERSISTENCE AND DETERMINATION ALONE ARE ALL POWERFUL."

I wish everyone here at WA all the best things life has to offer.

Can't agree more about persistence. Honesty is the best policy, lol.

Thanks for taking the time to read this Melani. I appreciate it.

Wow I impressed with the website especially the tree hugging hippies.

Thanks Bo!

I thought the tree hugging hippies would be funny! LOL

That is a paraphrased version of what Calvin Coolidge the 30th President of the U.S. said. It is very true.

Oh thanks for confirming that Bo. I could not find it in any of Peale's quotes so I was beginning to wonder if it was just something the producers of the movie put in themselves.
