Google Madness Follow Up!

After the amount of response my blog post received yesterday I decided I had to do A follow up. I just wanted to share the little bits of information I was able to get from google about their new policy and how it will affect us affiliates. I hope I didn't get any of the newer recruits worried in any way because WA doesn't just teach you affiliate marketing but they teach you to be diverse in your strategies and try new things until something starts to work. Google has changed their algorithm many times and this business is still here so no need to panic. Anyways from what I gained through my headaches is google is cracking down on sites with the sole purpose of driving customers to affiliate links. Now that being said they are not completely against affiliates they just don't like sites that offer only one product. They feel this is merely a funnel for traffic and is not offering their users any value. So diversity is key, we will have to mask our sales pitches and do an even better job of providing relevant content. I do however think adwords is not going to allow much affiliate marketing we will have to stick with Natural listings and work a bit harder but thats fine by me. If anybody has more to add please feel free to post here for others to read.

I had a similar reaction from Ezine to one pitch where I had a link to Google sniper directly on my first page they declined to print my article. I switched the Google sniper ad to a hidden page and they were fine with it! I hope they are not trying to squeeze affiliate only marketers out of business!

Google Social Engineering. I hate buying shampoos and deodorant because there are so many choices. I just want one or two to choose from. Google is deciding for us that we can only go to stores that feature a gazillion products. Give me both choices please.

Ok we want sales. the internet user wants information and Google wishes the internet user to get the experience they are after. That is fine. Lets just give more quality information. Think when you are using the internet and only get lead to people selling you stuff - its annoying right? Give good quality info and sell at the back end. As an internet user that is what I would want. So I haope I can provide that for others.

Google doesn't like sites that offer only one product? What do they think their ads do? And what's wrong with funneling traffic? The more traffic, the better chances of making sales -- isn't that the point?

Hi, I'm glad you were able to comply with googles terms. Can you tell me what the changes were that you had to make if possible. I'm a newbie, just found a possible niche and I would like to avoid the mistake if possible. Just getting ready to build my site. Thanks.

Feeling like a pinball from page one to page three now in less than an hours time haha it is almost comical

If they don't like sites that offer only one product, does that mean they allow review pages?

Hi Phil, Great update, and happy it's working out for you. Proud of your ingenuity and flexibility and ability to pull it out. In light of what you've been through, I got worried about a project I'm working on. It's an exciting project for me and I hope for others who visit the sites. Will be packed with content, but a very different structure. My concern is about Google. Do you have a contact address or number for them? Are you communicating directly with them? Would you be willing to share an email address or phone number? I'm still tracking them. If/when I get a contact, I'll share it with WA.

Content is king. Provide good content to the customer and everything will be fine.

Yet another update this morning I made a few changes to my page mainly added a few more products and removed my sales pitch and I was informed I am now in compliance. I still will not be using adwords to avoid future headaches but it is a relief to know I am safe for now. If anyone would like to see the layout of my site stop by http://www.squeezeboxtouchreview.net
